    No, there wasn't. The champion was recognized as one man. The closest to what you're talking about is when people joked about Kilrain being the new champion during Sullivan's reign. The highest ranked contenders fought for the title when the champ retired. There were country champs and black champs, but no multiple world champions. The closest case to that was the mishap with Savold

    So when Jack Dempsey UNIFIED the NYSAC "Belt" and the NBA "Belt" against NOBODY in 1922, what were the PPV numbers?

    Do they include streaming figures or just basic cable totals?

    Muhammad Ali made ONE title defense in the 1960s, by the way. Because he didn't defend both the WBC and WBA belts until he fought Zora Folley.

    And type that Jack Dempsey unified the NYSAC belt and the National Boxing Association belt to become boxing's first UNIFIED World Heavyweight Champion when he defeated Harry Greb via first round KO in 1922 ... how many peoples' heads would explode?

    He beat Woodcock didn't he? I'm not sure not following their own rules discounts them since the modern ones will happilly to make more money. At a point it's such a mess I think you're better going with lineal. Or lineal with some exceptions but you'd have to do some work to show that the lineal shouldn't be seen as the top champ.

    He's making some valid points TBH, but he's being a complete cockwomble.

    I've always considered lineal to be the best one title claim to world championship, it's a good system

    Was woodcock ranked by any chance?
