Bump, this is an impressive resource that should get stickied. Appreciate the work. Any chance you can do one for Benny Leonard, Manassa?
Max Baer Jack Sharkey Jim Braddock Why should fighters like these appear in bold? There are dozens of fighters you have put in bold who were in a pound for pound basis and on a championship level far better than these fellows.
OK, so your saying that your going by 1 month instead of 12. It just don't seem very accurate to me because 1 boxer can be rated for just 1 month and be on your list when another can be rated for years, BUT not at the end of any year, and is not listed. If you look at the Annual Ratings for 1938 (Issue Feb. 1939) you will see that Dennis Cahill was rated #6 in the Annual Ratings in the Flyweight Division. This was the 1st and only time he was ever rated in the 10 top. The same with Billy Maher in the 1939 Annual Rating (Issue Feb. 1940) in the Lightweight Division. Also, Lalo Gallardo (1947), Aldo Minelli (1947), Vince Foster (1949), Dennis Milton (1989) & Nino LaRocco (1989), were all rated just once and that was in the end of the year annual ratings. If you want an accurate listing, I can help you, as I have every boxer that was ever rated in the top 10 up to 1995 and the heavyweights up to 2004. It's a work in process.
