That's a good old trick but unfortunately few people have the stomach to handle it, wouldn't want anybody to soil themselves in the gym Probably need a bit more than a teaspoon for the effects, dosage would vary for different people.
Supplements aside, the best thing you can do for your recovery is to make sure you have plenty of carbs beforehand and plenty of water. It's not exciting but if you're doing it right you'll notice more of a difference than anything you could gain from supplements. Post workout it's good to have protein (probably wouldn't want to be eating tuna everyday- mercury) and fast acting carbs, if I were you I'd have something more sugary with your protein. Some people find that things like Creatine and Glutamine help. Personally I haven't been able to notice any difference using them. Nothing beats a good diet, the more intense your workouts the more you'll have to eat. I've noticed that lots of people tend to eat less when they workout more as they are in the 'doing the right thing' mode, the self discipline mode. Unfortunately those people tend to burn out soon and fall off the bandwagon since they don't have the fuel they need.
cheers lefty for the advice. I generally like to think i know what im doing training a nutrition wise albiet my knowledge is in the early stages. I already eat tuna pretty much every day i never even thought about the mercury content!!! I know that whole foods unprocessed are the most effective forms of recovery i just wanted to experiment for a while and see if i could notice a significant difference. I used to be one of those people that got into disciplined spartan mode and tried to reduce my portions and increase my exercise. Im happy with my weight so this now seems crazy that i used to do this. I still dont touch or eat junk or fizzy drinks... thats not a will power thing thats just the way iv always been. My diet isnt perfect and i just eat 3 square meals a day generally, a good breakfast lunch and a home cooked tea. if im hungry i have fruit, berries or nuts or something like that. Its always worked for me. I train 5-6 times a week and im fairly fit even if i do say so myself! Just was wondering if a supplement would help me cover all basis and let me take it to the next level!
Sounds good mate. Here in Australia we have a powder drink called sports sustagen, I think the equivalent in the UK and US is 'Nestle high protein boost energy drink' or something like that... I rate the stuff, it has a good ratio of protein and carbs. If I have a heavy day of training I down a few glasses to make sure I have enough energy. It seems that preworkout nutrition is more important for recovery than postworkout... With other supplements you'll probably have to experiment to see if they work for you, good luck with it :good
Hi guys sorry to drag this back up! Just thought id let you know iv been using recovery xs (gone through a bag) and now run out! Debating weather to get some more, but i honestly cant say if iv noticed a massive difference or not! Its hard to tell and i figure if i cant tell maybe i should try something else. I know its pretty much what i need post workout but for all i know the next product could make me feel 5 x better! So im thinking of trying the Sciviction Extend that people seem to really have rated last time in this thread! Once again im still eating fairly well ! Just wondering as we discussed last time the Extend is the essentials needed for recovery and i know this is a noobie question but do i need a protein to carbs supplement as well as this!? Or does this give you everything you need! The only thing that has changed from last i posted this is that my hours of work are all over the place and i trouble to time work , training and meals , so it is sometimes very important to be able to quickly get what i need down my neck and other times i have the time to do it through a meal! thanks again
It seems you're expecting too much. Post workout nutrition is to help your body recover. I don't know if you're expecting to feel all hyper and feel able able to do another workout after you take these supplements or what but there's nothing wrong with what you used.
No its not like that mate! As i said im not expecting miracles or to feel like i havnt even had a workout. But i havnt noticed much of if any differece from when i didnt take it at all! And its one of those where before buying the same again im thinking did i really see / feel a difference or is it just the placebo effect? Im sure there is nothing wrong with the recover xs and i know that it has everything you need PWO however it doesnt mean there aren't better alternatives or products to try!
i really get great results from BCAA. you don't necessiarly need extend perse, but rather any form of BCAA sources. extend has alot of electrolytes in it as well if you want that. but look for any type of source that has BCAA's and with a good diet should be good enough results.
You are almost right! a teaspoon morning and night works . Milkshakes (a racing term) have use for a very long time. Although in the racing industry there is now a limited amount of baking soda that can be used. The reason it is limited , it is very good at masking drug use!
http://www.exrx.net/Nutrition/Supplements/BovineColostrum.html This also works well but there was some controversy with the NCAA having banned it .
I have had both Xtend and straight up BCAA's, and the bcaa's are annoying as hell to mix and taste like ass; but if I recall correctly they were a bit cheaper BCAAs are more of use to me to fuel my workouts, I just use a standard carb-protein ratio post workout for recovery as well as a scoop of creatine (and glutamine when I have it, supplements add up in my wallet) also recovery is not JUST right after workout (but an important chunk of it is), it's all day so make sure your diet is solid and you sleep well
