    His name sounds like that of an old school tough guy and in truth that’s probably what he was. His birth name however was Clarence Burns and he even went by that name as late as 1936. Born roughly around 1916 in Baltimore Maryland, Burman would become the protege of Jack Dempsey and eventually challenge Joe Louis for the heavyweight title.

    in his travels he managed to get wins over such notables as Tommy Farr, Tony Musto, Johnny Shkor, Buddy Walker, Buddy Knox, Johnny Risko and Gus Dorazio to name some... His final record was reported as 78-22-3-33 but it’s been implied that he may have had a few additional fights.
