This isn't a bad comeback fight for Ricky to take.

No it isn't but u know people will be on here and say why has he had a tune up fight instead of going for mallinaggi or witter straight away. I mean mallinaggi had a few tunes up after the cotto fight.

Yeah, people would greatly criticize this fight. But if it gets Hatton's confidence back up and gets him an ABC belt, I have no problems with it. I know Hatton would gladly fight Malignaggi after a fight like this. Why wouldn't he? The guy stepped up 7 pounds to fight Mayweather. I doubt he has anything to fear with Paulie:good

Hatton should just admit he's scared of Witter, the way Moseley did with Margarito.

one word bollocks......... I mean Witter is the one with the most prestigious alphabet belt the WBC and can't get the big fights even when hatton as lost people still wanna fight him. Instead of witter keep going on about the hatton fight why not take on a belt holder and force the issue.

If Rees is defending his WBA title against Hatton that means he succesfully defended his title against Andreas Kotelnik and I think having wins over M'Baye and Kotelnik would make him a reasonable comeback opponent .

However if it is Rees I would be hoping for a fight against one of the other 3 title holders straight after .

No because he has not faced Kotelnik yet because they have not sorted a venue out for the fight. He will make more money from the hatton fight than he will from the three other title holders. If he fought witter, 7000 maximum in the doncaster dome, Mallinaggi in atlantic city probably maybe 10000 at a push. Whilst he could fight hatton at citys ground and fight infront of 42000 people and earn is biggest payday. I mean that is what fighters go into the fight game for to make money.

I'm well aware of that it makes much more sense for Rees to face Hatton than the other title holders(I didn't say otherwise) .

However Kotelnik has been WBA mandatory for god knows how long , I think the WBA would be afraid of a lawsuit should they allow a voluntary defence .

I was a bit shocked when I first heard this. If you think about it, it would not be a bad comeback fight for Hatton, I dont see that many people that go up in weight and get KTFO going back and fighting the biggest challenge at the weight they were at. A confideince booster is fine. Plus he wins a belt.

    Hatton by KO.

The problem I have is that I don't think Hatton has time on his side to be taking meaningless fights like this.

He needs a few career defining fights and then retirement.

My only hope is that if he does fight Rees, that he's back in the ring again only a few months later.

True, the only thing he'll get in such a fight will be a career high payday and of course a beating to go along with it for however long it lasts.

if he fights Rees it's a total **** take, he would be another typical Hatton opponent. He can't mix mix with prime, elite fighters and has ducked Witter for years. Rees is yet another very weak beltholder just like Maussa, Arango and Collazo was perceived to be.
