Well it might not be on the scale of floyd but I would not call it a meaningless fight, one he gets the belt back what he was forced to relinquish when he moved up the first time and he has a legitimate belt.

It's pretty meaningless in terms of legacy though.

He doesn't need that belt. He has the ring belt, he's still the man in the division, he's the biggest draw in the division and there are other belts to collect in better fights.

I understand what u are saying. But if he did fight witter and beat him, people on here who have a blind hate for him will still have a go at him.

Witter has fought as many top10 fighters as Hatton - Harris, Kotelnik, Ndou, Judah, Corley were all top 10 rated fighters. Hes also KO'd many European level fighters

Hatton stunk the joint out himself against Urango. Never before have I seen a fighter leap and hold a figher multiple times without throwing a punch but Hatton did it in all the late rounds against Urango. I actually had Urango winning 5 rounds because Hatton did nothing in the last 3-4rounds

This will be the 4th time Hatton has gone for the weakest belt holder in the division

yeah but this is Wicky who was boasting not so long ago about being a multiple belt world champion....anyone who knows boxing can see he's taken the path of least resistance and picked off weak links who came across a belt....that's why I think he's gunning for wee Gavin Rees. If Wicky takes this and continues to duck Witter then he's a joke.

Yeah maybe because he had a cold during fight week, maybe that had something to do with it. Why Maussa had just beat Harris.

    Path of least resistance?

    Castillo....Tszyu....Mayweather??

Then look at his stint in the welterweight division, how many go up and face a title holder straightaway??

Hatton's been unlucky in many ways as he'd have an unbeaten Pinto on his record if Pinto hadn't bottled it, he'd have Harris on his record if Maussa hadn't starched him, he'd have Gatti on his record if he never got starched....these guys would probably look better on his record to the plastics, even though it's not actually the case.

OR maybe because Urango was stronger and a bigger hitter and the cold was an excuse.

Maussa beating Harris was a fluke win anyone who saw that fight knows that. BTW Harris flawed Maussa with the first punch of the fight and it wasnt a flash KD

Urango's stronger than anyone in that division, he's cut out of rock.

Got outboxed by Ricky though easily.

It may have been a fluke, but if Ricky had fought Harris....everyone would have said '"He's just been KO'd by Maussa :rofl "

The only thing Hatton will get out of thrashing Rees is a good bargaining tool..

    That championship belt........

This fight shouldn't happen. Hatton has had enough tune up fights in his career. He should go for Junior Witter IMO, instead of 5'3 Gavin Rees.

WOW Rees is a very strong opponent, he has victories over Peter Buckley 26W-110L, Nigel Senior 16W-46L, Carl Allen 18W-36L, Billy Smith 9W-47L and Daniel Thorpe 19W-46L AND he is smaller 5'-3" WOW

I would much rather see this fight as well. Ricky will destroy Rees with ease.
