According to BBC sports website Gavin Rees will defend his WBA Light Welterweight Title against his mandatory Andreas Kotelnik on 22nd March at the Cardiff International Centre.

    Kotelnik's record - W28 L2 D1 = 31
Two points losses to M'Baye (SD) & Witter (UD)

Kotelnik will beat Rees in the ring unless Warren makes sure he cannot.

At least Rees has home advantage. IF he were to win perhaps he will be taken more seriously as a world champion. Surprised he hasn't had another fight since his win over M'Baye and this one being made.

cant see rees as a light welter, think he needs to cut weight. kotelnik beat witter for me, he is a handful...

Tough fight, i think any defence of this belt is a bonus for Rees as he shouldnt have go tthe shot in the first place and is actually a lightweight.

Still, I thought Mbaye would outclass him and he didnt and this fella lost to Mbaye so atleast there are some good signs. his fight with Witter is the reason why im going to go with Kotelnik, as on his day he does have some real class.

Lets not forget that we dont know how good Gavin Rees is yet, his rise from domestic 6-8 rounders to world champion was so un expected that we havnt been able to see what he has to offer in a tough fight.

Rees on points. He was as bad as M'baye.

No way did he ever beat Witter. He did nothing but cover till the late half of the fight and made a couple of rounds close.

Witter had 6 rounds already In the bag when Kotelnik finally tried to do something.

Kotelnik has actually fought M'Baye twice.

He lost a split decision in 2004 but then drew against him in 2007 - just a few months before Rees went on to beat M'Baye.

I can, Rees is underrated but so is Kotlenick. He didnt beat witter but he beat M'Baye twice.

Maybe kotlenick is suited to witter and mbayes style, but might no be to rees!

Ree's has a good chance against kotelnik who is really a jouneyman on the world stage. Ree's is the champ and won the title well so you have got to give him respect. I can see it going either way but I would plump for a Ree's SD.

Kotelnik clearly beat M'baye twice with the 2nd fight being a clear robbery. If Kotelnik comes to the ring in the same manner as for M'baye II he will beat Rees clearly...

Nah the 2nd M'Baye fight was a clear draw.

He was ploughing forward not taking advantage of M'Baye not doing much himself.

    Neither deserved to win.

    Kotelnk's too robotic.

Kotelnik is a good fighter. HArd fight for Rees. Kotelnik has only ever lost controversially to Witter and also a controversial draw with M'Baye.
