Quality performance by both boxers and both have the heart of a lion fair play to them both. Was very impressed by Rees performance although I did feel he took to many punches which were not nesscary. What's next for both boxers?
    What ate your opinions?

    Cheers

Rees will be lookig for winner of Mitchell-Burns fight or even Richard Abril for his interim championship he is at the age he has to look for a big fight.

Matthews cant make roads back if he is going to have a comeback fight he will be looking at Carl Johansen or Ben Murphy but i reckon he should like at sorting the fight with John Murray

Yep i agree, That was a bit like Ayers vs Rigby. The sportsmanship and the heart and sheer will to win.

Rees time for a world title, he's earned it mixing against different opponents at LW. There's no more marking time, he's in a great run of form and needs that test.

For Mathews although plenty of losses by stoppage there mostly against good fighters or at lower weights. He still has skills and it's not like he's physically declining. Rees has world class skills, no shame in losing to him.

Stick around for another 18 months and get as much as you can from the sport while being realistic. He'd of beaten a fair few european champions tonight sadly for him he met a very good champion.

rees is tough as hell.he will walk down most fighters, just depends on someone having the power to keep him off which a few of the world champs have

Matthews is still only 28. I think he has a lot more fights in him, however i think it will be as a gate keeper for British and European level prospects.

  9. Could anyone see Mathews-Crolla II for the British & European at some point?

Derry's come on leaps & bounds since his 'Golden Boy' days. Great genuine fighter to watch.

Rees is a beast a lightweight though, if I were him I'd be looking on getting a World Title to bring to the table BEFORE even thinking about the winner of Burns-Mitchell.

Rees is very underrated. Him vs the winner of Burns-Mitchell would be a good fight, although I reckon they would both maybe just have a little too much for him. He deserves a crack at it though.

I personally think Rees could KO Mitchell.

Rees is great to watch and is always in good scraps. He's worked very hard and deserves another shot in my opinion.

I got it wrong, I thought Rees would dominate! Derry boxed superbly for the first few rounds, then as soon as Rees showed some imagination and upped his workrate..he really started beating Derry up.

Great fight, props to both men.

fair play gavin rees is a cracking little figher, every fight the other guy is 3 4 or 5 in taller & he still finds a way to out jab & out fight them. burns or mitchell batters him tho

Rees v Harrison would be a right good tear up..

If Harrison wins then he's clearly a force to be reckoned with, if he loses then Rees will have most likely smashed him, which would be nice karma.
