I could never say that Byrd had a clear win over Vitali.

They should have rematched though. But they helped each other avenge losses.

    What do you mean hypothetical?

You've just said that you think there's no doubt that Vitali would have been stopped again.

Is that not both hypothetical and unrealistic?

Again, it's just circumstances to me.

I have no issue with anyone ranking Wlad's resume higher.

A guy who's fought 68 times should be ranked higher than someone who's fought 47 times.

That's pretty obvious if they fought the same calibre of opponents.

But in my opinion, Vitali was more formidable, and under different circumstances, he'd clearly have had a better career.

Wlad has always been vulnerable in a way that Vitali wasn't.

Stats don't mean anything to me.

    They can be very misleading.

The next thing we could hear is that Chris Byrd knocked out Vitali Klitschko. You never know.

So, unfortunately most of this thread has been troll filled, but any comments from anyone else? Based on the few real comments we've had, looks like most still give Wlad the edge, but a decent number are saying its closer than it was.

It can be difficult for some to picturing it - a bloody mess, in reality.

Watch Pulev's nasty jab against a tall opponent:

Watch Vitali's poor skin combined with his ineffective defense against a tall, tough opponent with a great jab:

Everybody got a stylistic nightmare that ain't all that great. Pulev would be poison to Vitali, because he can't gun him out like Wlad. He would have to slowly grind him down, but risk the TKO on cuts by doing so. Or he could try to adapt another defense with a high guard, but lose his upper body movement and fast counters by doing so...

Pulev's got the weight the height, the reach the stamina and the speed of the jab to nullify and exploit all of Vitali's strengths and weaknesses.

Everyone's got a stylistic weakness, and you are right that that is Vitali's, but Pulev simply lacks the ability to exploit it. Sure he tore up Ustinov and Dimitrenko, they are not remotely comparable to Vitali. Pulev is kinda like a poor man's Vitali, they really have similar styles in many ways. The problem is, VK is vastly superior in size, strength, power, and activity level. Vitali would win every round and stop him late. He'd land some more punches than some of VK's other victim's but it wouldn't be close, and he couldn't land enough, nor with enough power, to cut Vitali, who only had a problem with cuts once. Vitali could come out of retirement now and beat Pulev.

I respect your opinion. But I agree with Andrew.

    He's typed out my thoughts.

Id say about equal. Going 6 rounds with Lennox and 12 with Fury are both great achievements.

In my opinion, Vitali could have done. But Wlad stepped in to avenge the defeat before Vitali fought again after his shoulder operation.

He only had problems with cuts once because he only faced a tall, strong jabber with a good reach once.

Just look at Wladimir's face after Fury, then count the small amount of punches that actually landed around the eye-region...

Vitali's got that same achilles heel, that same, poor skin and bone structure around the eyes.

Pulev doesn't need to land so much to begin with. If Lewis managed to foremost: survive and then secondly to: win, thanks to the jab, in 6 rounds I'm sure Pulev would done the same in at least 12.

Even if Vitali outlanded Pulev, he would still look more of pizza and being stopped as the result.

Vitali's upper body, movement by reaction with low guard defense
works against short or slow fighters, Pulev is rangy and fast enough with the jab to give him hell.

And even if Pulev lost, I'm sure he would have bring out the absolutely best of Vitali Klitschko.

At least Pulev would have done better against Vitali than against Wladimir, agree?
