Just rewatched Cotto vs Yuri foreman, what a fight! Yuri was almost crippled in both knees due to a previous leg injury which he wore a leg brace over, and a few trips to the canvas by way of accidental slips. Anyway his corner threw in the towl. The poor kid had no legs left, was beginning to look like a crap kicking of a beating from Miguel Cotto. So what happens? The ref throws the towel back and claims the towel was thrown in by an outside source. Geez, what a ballsy move, but it was correct as the towel coulda came from anywhere in the arena... Anyway he let the fight go on. Until he stepped in to relieve poor Yuri against a young Miguel Cotto. This was absurd, moments earlier he was clearing everybody out of the ring to continue the fight that he eventually stopped! My question is this: if you were a world champion and a young fighter like Yuri foreman, would you rather live to fight another day? Or would you want the chance to continue with two hobbled knees just to see if himself could come back in the fight? Kinda reminds me of Margarito "give us one more round" mentality in Cotto part 2.
There was the video of him telling foreman to circle the other way and yelling ****! When he fell Very odd behavior
Foreman had a torn ACL and Meniscus. Crazy that he kept fighting with those injuries. He was literally defenseless.
