Referee s that are associated With Certain Fighters /Fights?

Every time I think of the first Jose Napoles - Armando Muniz fight I can’t help but think of referee Ramon Berumen and his disgraceful performance

 

Carlos Padilla also refereed the first Vito Antuofermo vs Alan Minter tile bout in March 1980, won by Minter on points.

 

I believe Berumen also refereed the first Carlos Monzon vs Emile Griffith title bout from Luna Park on Sept 25 1971, won by Monzon TKO 14.

Yes he did. As a matter of fact I just watched that fight the other day. But if you want to be really entertained, there is a 5 minute video out there on YouTube of a fight between Juan Ramirez and Toluco Lopez. Talk about letting a fight get out of hand. The disgruntled audience absolutely fills the ring with seat cushions and the idiot of a ref tells the fighters to box on despite the ring being an obstacle course. Guess who the ref was? Ramon Berumen. How this man ever found work is beyond me.

 

Harry Gibbs is probably best remembered for the Henry Cooper v Joe Bugner fight and that controversial decision
