Typical British stoppage, by a Puerto Rican referee...

This site really does attract some complete morons.

The Ref saved Chisora's life, Haye was trying to kill that man, he knocked him down twice with brutal shots, and the latter being on a flush 5 punch combo, which stretched Chisora, the Ref never expected Derrick to get up. These aren't Welterweight's friend.

Chisora is a G, he needs to know when to stay down

No.. they were both set on not getting in more trouble tonight with boxing commisions and what not.

So I am pretty sure the ref could have stopped Chisora even the first time he went down and Chisora would have eacted like he did. Even after the fight he was comitted to staying cool.

Doesn't change the fact that Pabon counted ridiculously fast, and that there was absolutely no reason to stop Chisora who was on his feet and with the round being over. Rubbish stoppage.

The stoppage was fine. A referee is not supposed to consider how long remains in a round, because he cannot be certain. He has to make a judgment called based on the moment, and Chisora's legs were buckling and I presume his eyes were hazy. Even though the round had officially ended, that's not something you can be certain to hear when you're focused on the count and a huge crowd going ape****.

Ya'll need to employ some common sense. Watch both knockdowns... they were hard, heavy knockdowns. Yes, Chisora got up, but that does not mean that he is fit to fight on. As for there being one second left in the round, I can tell you this, whether he had a minute to recuperate or not, he was going to get hurt bad if the fight was left to continue in any capacity Chisora was walking onto shot after shot from one of the hardest punchers in the world... that's the type of **** that kills people... that's what put Gerald McClellan in the shape he is in now.

Ref done a ****in good job in there. Anyone thinks they can do better, get the **** out of your armchairs, go train to be a ref, and prove yourselves to be better than Pabon. For what it's worth, I don't reckon any of you make it past the stage where you have to get out of your armchair... anyone care to prove me wrong...

It's ludicrous and erroneous to call it a "British Stoppage" by the way. That's a fair stereotype, yet not only is the ref not British, watching a Joe Calzaghe highlight video will tell you where the reputation comes from. A "British Stoppage" is a ****ing flurry or a single KD followed by a fleet footed official leaping in. Chisora suffered two really, really heavy KDs and was wobbling all over the place after rising from the second.

Yeah no complaints here either, it was pretty clear in the slowmo that chisora was done. How can you be a boxing fan and not see when a guy gets up and is looking like a sack of patotoes, he is done! And yes, remaining time in the round is of no concern to the referee, he doesnt watch the clock.

He was dropped twice with the second time getting up all while barely beating the count and walking dazed with little to no legs. There was a reason no one complained. It was a fine stoppage. I expected the ref to stop it once Chisora got up the first time frankly.

Yep, if a ref is clock-watching he's probably not doing his job very well.

Glad some posters aren't referees. Boxing's a tough enough sport without people making macho decisions on other people's health.

the first left hand and the last left hook were some career ending shots, just Chisora is young and fresh so he got up no way he shoulda continued though next round Haye woulda rushed him
