Thought the corner was over reacting and overly concerned as Brook looked nowhere near in condition to be stopped, but in hindsight knowing now that Brook's orbital bone was broken, its best the fight was stopped when it was.
He can fight and redeem himself another night.

Don't remember which fight, I've been watching boxing for 35 years, but I've seen the ref take a towel thrown in and throw it right back out. That has happened before.

    Taylor Chavez.
And pretty sure docs and corners are entitled to end a fight.

    Get off the forum idiot.

FRANKEL claims to have an extensive boxing library. Maybe someday someone can read it to him.

As a ref in this fight, and it's a fight between a WW and MW...you don't throw the towel back out of the ring lol...

It does'nt apply under this circumstance. The ref in this case would have been within his rights to have thrown the towel right back out and let the round finish, he had no way of knowing Brooks orbital bone was fractured and Brook was not taking clean shots from Golovkin at the time of the towel being thrown in. In fact Brook was defending himself well when the ref stopped the action and stopped the fight due to the corner asking it to be stopped.

The one dumbfounded here and obviously upset was Brook who seemed somewhat surprised his corner had thrown in the towel.

I think that may have been Cotto v Foreman.

btw, some are overlooking the fact that when the cornerman is on the ring apron the fight is over anyway, as its a DQ even if the ref doesnt want to stop the fight

It does apply, whenever a corner wants a fight stopped they are going to be given the benefit of the doubt. Cotto vs Foreman was an Arthur Mercante jr F up. Mercante Jr is horrible and has had a fighter die on his watch.

I've only ever seen Arthur Mercante Jr do that. It was in the Yuri Foreman vs Miguel Cotto fight. It was beautiful. He gave the fighter every chance. It still ended the same way, but the fighter was given every opportunity to do what he wanted to do.

Zab Judah vs Floyd Mayweather had an in ring brawl with Roger Mayweather hopping in after Judah hit Floyd low. They cleared the ring and let Floyd finish the fight to get a W instead of disqualifying him for the actions of his uncle.

It was a timely and legit stoppage and probably saved Brook his eyesight. It is boxing, not "morituri te salutant"...

This isn't UFC where two beer drinkers hit each other with no rules. This is boxing this is a sport, Brook had a ****ing broken eye socket and if kept getting hit could of lost his right eye. If you want mindless bloodshed go watch that trash in MMA.
