If the referee stops the action to deduct a point and does not give a command of "box" to resume the fight, then any punches landed would have to be considered "blows after the command (of stop , time or break) and thus illegal. Since the ref did not give the command to box in this case...

Apparently he did...though then looked AWAY from both men as the KO shots landed and completely missed then before seeing Victor fall to his arse and think "****"

The videos do show that they were allowed to box again. Take a look at other posts.

Just be happy that Ortiz was happy. :)

Both were dirty fighters and Mayweather was better at it. Maybe Ortiz will learn something from it.

I heard the " time in " that time, so thanks for the link. There were two classless acts in this fight, though I am not sure which was worse. The slow motion replay on the end of that fight is just plain bad.

He gave the hand signal to begin fighting again and can clearly be heard saying "let's go." In other words "box." Then Ortiz chose to pussyfoot around for no reason and got KTFO. Say what you want, but there was nothing controversial about it. Ortiz got outclassed and KOed.

That was a classless act by a classless fighter. Mayweather should have been able to rise above the dirty tactics of Ortiz, but instead saw an opportunity to mug the man. Neither was clean, but that put Floyd down to a B level fighters class.

Watch the video clearly gives signal to BOX and says LETS GO at 3.10

    Now apologise.

All i see is two dirty fighters... And a disorganized ref. Should have counted the time before he lets them engaged.

    Stil a bad ref IMO.

Cortez's script was to look away for the finishing punch... Fixed... Referee 101 don't look away from the two fighters... Your the one in charge inside the ring it's your freaking job unless a well sum of money in the pocket...

Can you explain the fixed aspect, because if he gave the go ahead to fight then why does the outcome matter? It's not like looking at Ortiz would have changed anything.
