This might be a stupid question, but do referees still serve as the judges in some fights? I thought this was a practice that had died out a long time ago. However, I just watched the replay of the Michael Conlan vs Adeilson Dos Santos fight from this weekend, and when they announced the result, it sounded like they said there was just one judge and that it was the referee. Is this something they do in Ireland?

10 rounders for national titles too, remembering O'Connor screwing over McD versus Fury in their first encounter.

Ok thanks. So the referee is the only judge, right? Or are there two regular judges as well? I am just surprised they would leave the result in the hands of a single person.

the referee will be the sole "judge" in that scenario

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying! I have watched boxing for years and now feel stupid for not being aware of this before now.
