This seems to be a right bee in your bonnet at the moment mate! At the end of the day refs have a job to do, TV show or not and I don't know any that ref any different if it's on TV or off TV. That said I really don't like refs with catchphrases.... The other day I notice that you were dirty on me for stopping the action to take care of the loose tape on BOTH of Piper's gloves, not a game of marbles you said - what happens if that loose tape whips Fitz in the eye? Then you are into me non-stop for derilliction of duty! Not to mention I would have had my arse handed to me after the fight if I hadn't have attended to it. Refs do it all over the world if they are paying attention it's a health and safety thing
Anyone notice on tonights episode of Contender, when the fighters did their slo mo ring walk through the tunnel, they didn't have their gloves taped. But the next shot of them walking towards the ring and hey presto!...the tape appears. Was it just my trained eye that picked that up?
not saying this to you phil because i havent seen u ref a fight yet....but australia have ****ed refs..... the wills vs bennent fight was truely ****ed. phil.... can a ref ever help a fighter up off the deck if the fight is still going? and this happened in the wills fight!! also, are refs ment to use the term "break" or can they say anything to stop and seperate the fighters?
What do you mean you have not seen me ref a fight!! DON'T YOU KNOW THIS IS ALL ABOUT ME!!! Mate the 3 basic commands for a ref are stop, box and break. As for helping a fighter up it depends - if he has actually been knocked down then obviously no! as for a slip or a puch that is up to the ref. Personally I wouldn't unless the fight is on TV and I think I can get more air time....

Mate the shoes are retired - made no appearance on the last fight night and Andy Raymond and Chris McCullen both signed them and they are now sitting in my den with mny other memorabillia Seriously though Marcus, personally I would never help a fighter up but that is just my viewpoint, I will not pass comment on the fight the other night
Talking to one of the Fox production crew and he tells me they have started using wide lens whenever Phil is reffing.
