The Mayweathers give Chavez tremendous credit. When asked if speed was what made his son great, Roger responded by saying that skill made him great and referenced the chavez fight by saying " was chavez fast? No, I fought him twice. It's skill" When Jr. was asked what he thought about Chavez, he said that he was terribly underrated. So there you go, they pretty much admitted than he was far superior than Roger.
Anywhere I can read, watch or listen to that? I like listening or reading what past fighters had to say about their adversaries once time has passed.
My favorite fighter of all time. Sad but true, the guy fighting Chavez at the 1:17 mark is Grover Wiley, my co-trainer and strength and conditioning coach.
Chavez was one bad dude. The best body puncher I've ever seen. I don't understand how anyone who is a fan of boxing could not appreciate his skills and style of fighting.
I honestly don't know where to find these clips, I do remember that jrs comment came around the build up for marquez fight. And Rogers comment was around the de la hoya fight, if I'm not mistaken, during a hbo special or something.
Even though I feel Chavez lost against Sweet Pea. I still respect the mans work in the ring and HOF career. A very well put together tribute for an ATG in Chavez Sr. :good
looks like pinoy pride for life is bitter because they know they still have a lot of work to do if they want to catch up to brown pride in boxing:good
