Good post. Though I believe Marquez was being ignored at the time and had to schedule a big fight to gain some much needed attention, despite his big wins over Diaz and Casamayor. After the Mayweather fight he was left in complete darkness. Even his rematch victory over Diaz and Katsidis barely brought him attention. Pacquiao's lack of competition/opponents at welterweight eventually forced this fight to happen and Marquez took advantage of it to the very max knowing he got lucky with this fight. Even going in against Pacquiao in the third fight almost EVERYONE completely overlooked him and considered this a joke fight. I only know one person who actually told me the third fight is 50/50 based on Marquez' insane desire/interest to fight Pacquiao, all the rest(including myself) picked Pacquiao to spark him brutally.

Imagine if Floyd and JMM hadn't ever fought. But everything else had panned out the way it has, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE would be calling for Floyd to take on JMM.

And plenty of simpletons would be calling him a coward and a fraud etc if he dodged the man who brutally put pacquiao to sleep and signed to fight canelo instead.

However with the benefit of hindsight, Floyd is levels above anyone else in and around his weightclass. History gets rewritten for his opponent every time he proves it, but he keeps on proving it all the same.

Floyd beat an uninterested obese jmm

Manny beat lance Armstrong 3 times and was winning the 4th before he got sucker punched

You honestly believe Marquez would go in a fight where he had everything to gain and nothing to lose obese and disinterested? Fact is, styles make fights and Mayweather's style is wrong for Marquez.

Jmm definitely called out Money. Too bad Floyd couldn't shed those 2 pounds for the catchweight he would of gotten much more credit for beating Juan. Now that Jmm is somewhat closer to a real welterweight with alot more power, if Floyd beat him now, it'd look better on Floyd since Jmm is fresh off his historic win over Pacman. There were too many conditions for the first fight and advantages for Floyd at least now Jmm has filled up to welter, or at least 144, nicely. Tho Floyd might even have Jmm's number, I really do think Jmm will do better second time around.

I can see JMM winning 3 or 4 Rounds, but if he challenges Floyd too much, he's gonna press him and make it look like the second half of the Zab Fight.

That fight won't happen, it was too much of a ms-match. I mean sure floyd came in heavy etc... but does floyd really impose his size on people..? The simple fact is floyds levels above jmm.. he knows it too, whenever he's asked about he says no.. he don't want no rematch

Could be, tho I think Jmm has better stamina than Judah, but these 2 gettin up there in age and even tho they both looked spectacular recently, they lookin to trade more and take more risks. I think Floyd wins another decision, Jmm I think because he's stronger now I notice taking some of Pacquiao's power shots very well, but I think Floyd unlike Manny will respect Jmm's power and make it a boxing match instead of a war. Still, Jmm at least will have a puncher's chance this time. Both have nothing to lose in a rematch.

At the time some people had Marquez P4P No.1, around Feb 2009, before Pac vs Hatton and May vs Marquez

If you believe he won the rematch with Pac in 2008, then stopping Casamayor an J Diaz was more impressive than Pac stopping D Diaz and that version of Oscar.

So basically Marquez thought he was p4p#1 and wanted Mayweather. Post fight ring interview after the first Diaz clears all that up, apparently the fight was made with-in a month of Marquez calling out May, but they waited to the day before the Pac v Hatton fight to announce it.

Yea I know fans didn't really want this one and stylewise not the best fan friendly either, but would of still been interesting if it happened FRESH off the Pacman ko. As more time passes won't be too much interest I agree with that.

What if Marquez demolishes Bradley with a brutal KO & Floyd wins a close decision over Canelo, would there be calls for the rematch?

No there won't. Marquez made it clear he doesn't want a rematch.
