I think Marquez did. Floyd just tends to sit around and wait for the opponents to come to him. Being the best has that advantage I guess.

If he called out Marquez, who was a lightweight at the time, he would get endless hate for it. Accepting the fight brought him enough heat as it is. People only decided to appreciate that victory after Marquez' two fights against Pacquiao at welterweight.

Doubt it. The people who didn't give him credit for the Marquez win never intend to give him credit. They will always find a way to spin it.

Marquez is on roids now. Marquez finally adjusted to 147. Floyd cheating on the scales added 2 pounds of supreme disadvantage. Etc, etc.

Marquez is a G! He took the loss like a man, no excuses, and admits that he could never beat Mayweather.

Compare his reaction to losing to both Pac and Donaire. Both of these guys are full of excuses for their recent defeats.

I do agree that Marquez took the loss like a man but can he afford to say otherwise?, honestly. The fight was as clear as it gets, Mayweather's style is wrong for him. Pacquiao isn't bringing up excuses, he's stating the obvious. He was winning the fourth fight and had Marquez severely battered/hurt only to run into a punch that finished it. What happened in the fourth fight was simple boxing, one fighter's mistake is a counter puncher's dream/career. It's not like Pacquiao was being battered from start to finish to consider his analysis an "excuse". Donaire on the other hand, is deluded. He was outclassed as Marquez was against Mayweather and doesn't want to admit it. Extremely pitiful excuses from Donaire to defend/cover up his defeat.

Good points, but Pac said that Marquez hit him with a lucky punch.

Marquez called him out after he laid out Juan Diaz in his hometown. It was weird because I never expected him to call him out but to be honest I was thinking the reason he did was because of $$$$$$. At 35 and getting no younger why not fight the best boxer in world which will be on PPV and Marquez probably knows he would get paid well.

Marquez was frustrated Pacquiao was ignoring his callouts after Pacquiao had gotten a gift in their rematch.
I think Marquez was just fed up with team Pacquiao pretending they did'nt get their ass schooled, and so after knocking out Juan Diaz in spectacular fashion, Marquez was asked by Merchant what was next. Everybody thought Marquez would callout Pacquiao again, but Marquez knew better.
He knew Pacquiao did'nt want none of that, so instead of calling out Pacquiao he calls out Mayweather.

Imo, I dont think Marquez himself was serious about taking on Mayweather at that point, the callout of Mayweather was more of a slap in the face of Manny Pacquiao as most had him as p4p #1.

"I want to fight the best p4p in the world. I want to fight Mayweather!"

Imo Marquez said it to slap Pacquiao in the face and at the same time entice Pacquiao to take a 3rd fight.
Team Pacquiao did'nt take the bait, and when word got out Mayweather was interested, the money was the biggest payday in Marquez career.
No way he was going to turn it down.

Marquez took the fight for two reasons.
    1. By far his biggest payday.

    2. The challenge of taking on a bigger just as skilled fighter.

Both Marquez and Nacho knew that realistically without a single physical advantage to their favor, their chances were slim to beat Mayweather.

They took on Mayweather for both the money and the challenge, but they went about working for it with honesty and integrity.
Though they knew Mayweather was to all of fast, skilled, and big, they prepared as well as they knew how under the circumstances, and did'nt cheat themselves or the fans as they laid it all out on the line, preparing for and fighting to win.

Mayweather went toe to toe vs Cotto, but did'nt want to take that route with Marquez! :deal:yep

I remember clearly after the Diaz fight they asked Marquez if he wants to fight Pac he said that Pac is not interested so they are looking to fight Floyd.

It doesn't really matter,he fought an inflated 37 yr old lighweight at welterweight.Paul williams/Sergio called floyd out you didn't see him jump at the opportunity, that's because floyd weighs the risk factor before he chooses an opponent.I respect the hell out of Marquez but the guy had never competed at 140,what would make anybody think he could do it at welterweight? This aint broner vs feather fisted paulina lol.

I don't think hes a ducker at all. However, you gotta realize that boxing is a show and when fighters call each other out its all show. It really doesn't take balls to "call someone out" when regaurdless of the result you get 5 million dollars. I mean damn, I think most of us here would get our asses whooped for one night to never have to work another day for the rest of our lives...
