Ref's stoppage of Jones - Green was premature

Roy had no complaints. He was wobbling all over the ring after the first temple shot. And the ref was in a better position to see how much damage Roy was taking than us.

 

I agree. Roy's legs would have come back after a couple of minutes, it would have been interesting to see him dig deep and try and come back for the win.

Can't complain too much about the stoppage, but at the same time, if the ref had given it to the end of the round, I think Roy would have come back at him.

 

Jones legs were gone, he could not recover. He did not complain.

I wanted Jones to win the fight. I really want to see Hopkins/Jones rematch very badly.

 

I thought that the stoppage was premature. In his fight with Lacy, Jones took a fair bit of time off, just laying back and defending while not taking much punishment for it.
He kinda looked like that.

But when he said afterwards that it was time to retire? That isn't the talk of a guy who thought he had been robbed, or who thought he could have won. It was the talk of a guy who thought he had been thrashed.

 

Definitely premature... Roy Jones is my hero but I can identify he was in a world of trouble when Green tagged him. Still think though, that he was ok. He always covers up like that. No need to stop it at all.

 

Premature but who cares? Maybe this will get Jones to retire, or take on one last easy fight to go off in the sunset.

 

Roy seemed still able to defend himself even if he wasn't throwing back - he wasn't out on his feet. Back in the day the fight would never have been stopped at that point. Steve Smoger wouldn't have stopped it either. But in modern boxing it's getting more and more common to stop fights when a fighter's in trouble - that's why there are so many TKOs these days as opposed to real KOs. To be fair I've seen far worse stoppages than this one during the last years. And who knows - if Roy would have been knocked out cold again at the end of the round people would complain about the ref not stopping it when he was in trouble.

 

Funny cause the fight I saw clearly shows RJJ taking 3 uppercuts shunting his head back each time during the first barrage after the count and a 4th massive uppercut when he is pushed back on the adjacent rope just before the ref stops the fight.

RJJ was so out of it Green was easily moving RJJ gaurd with his left hand to snap right shots on him...

RJJ was shot to ****.....

 

RJJ was doing a chicken dance from one barrage to the next....wake up you ****ing idiots.

 

I thought the stoppage was a little premature but Jones Jr is shot so it wouldn't have made a difference. Even if he had survived the round, Green would have gotten to him again.

I am suprised Roy's handlers even allowed this fight to take place considering a big money fight with Hopkins was set for next year. Green is clearly a level above fighters like Lacy. Jones should retire he has nothing left.

 

Roy pretty much handles himself, doesn't he?

 

Lets be fair, Green did sneak in a couple rabbit punches.

 

I think we've seen that when Roy gets hurt, his recovery time is not there. He stays hurt. He went down hare against Tarver, Johnson, and now Green. Yes he's old, so that doesn't help. If he stays fighting, he's gonna keep getting caught and ko'd badly again.

 

Anyone who thinks the stoppage was premature either knows nothing about boxing or is very stupid. Probably both.

Sir Royston didn't throw a single punch after being dropped. He was badly hurt and showed great courage to finish the fight on his feet.

Stop making lame excuses for an emphatic clear-cut result.
