Like I said: Green did not land any clean hard shots after Jones got dropped. He did not land anything which would have further deterioated Jones's state. The two uppercuts weren't hard at all, most punches were blocked on the gloves.

Jones did not appear really wobbly, he seriously stunned, that is it. It wasn't enough to warrant a stoppage.

Very, very good stoppage. Roy could of got seriously hurt. How would we all feel today if he had got hurt badly? A lot worse than a KO loss, i can say that for sure.

Funny but Roy was worried about this type of stoppage before the Calzaghe fight ..I do beleive he could have been given a little more time ..He's a professional why would he complain ..I do beleive he could have been given a chance to continue .

On what basis can you say that? Boxing is a hurt business. Back in the day people would have laughed at this stoppage.

  5. I think yr blind, man.

  6. That's an awful, irresponsible statement. Do you see how many people get killed in boxing? Do you see how many of them end up ******ed in their old age? It's not cool man. Jones was out of it, if he *could* have continued is not the point. The refs responsibility is to stop the fight before anyone gets seriously hurt. That's not always possible with one punch KO's but when a guy is defenseless and getting wailed on it's time to end it. Period.

A club fighter? I'm not a Green fan, but when you learn anything about boxing you should look at your post and correct it. A "club fighter" doesn't win a world title, as cheap as they are these days. If Green is a club fighter, what is Jeff Lacy?

He was still a heavy underdog against Roy, even at this stage. Did you think Green would stop him in the 1st round? Nobody on esb did. Few thought he had a chance, let the guy have his moment.

    I don't ****ing know either.

Another thing I noticed was that for the vast majority of Green's attack, Jones wasn't even looking at Green, but rather was just swaying back and forth hoping that he wouldn't lean right into the next one. There was no eye contact between Jones and Green AT ALL.

Don't they have standing 8 counts? I also agree it was a premature stoppage. I looked at the tape and I saw Jones more hurt than this in Jones Tarver III, we have seen Jones look more hurt than this in Jones Tarver I. He didn't look so hurt that I thought Green could knock him out, but it looked like Green could knock him down again.

The fact that Roy didn't fall down or collapse, and seemed to have all his senses, it looks like he just got hit with a rabbit punch and lost his legs, and Green jumped all over him. But how many times have we seen a prime Roy Jones Jr do exactly the same thing to other fighters? We have seen Roy Jones get fighters on the ropes and through 30-40 punch combinations and the ref stopped it. A loss is a loss, but this kind of loss doesn't make Jones look shot, it just means Jones shouldn't keep fighting elite fighters.

I do think he can fight Hopkins, Hopkins does not have the punching power of Green. I think he can fight Johnson again also, but he has no chance against Dawson, or Haye, those fighters know hes weak to rabbit punches and can end the fight even quicker than Green.

It's time for Jones to retire... When you lose to a guy like Green in 1 round, it's time to give it up!
