a question for all boxing fans out there....

can a fighter that floyd is the betting favorite against ( 2:1 or greater) improve his resume?

yes.. any fight you take increases your resume even if its by 0.000001% (if you win of course)

    Nope

It's all about legacy fights now

Either an established name or a really got prospect

Anything else and he's in Danny Garcia territory

I wouldn't put it past haymon to try make him fight a lightning rod salka

actually i have to elaborate a bit. if you take on a weak fighter who you are heavily favored to win and there are much better fighters who you could have fought instead well it should hinder your legacy

using floyd as an example people say if he does not take on pac it will hinder his legacy and with this may 2 talk coming up hopefully it happends but if it doesnt there is enough argument to warrant bob arum held the fight up just as much as floyd so i dont think to much of it

ignoring the whole negotiating conversation. I'm just not sure how much a pacquiao fight TRULY enhances floyds resume.

its hard to say. is pac prime no, but at the same time neither is floyd?

is pac finished? no, he just beat the p4p #3 in bradley

but because he has lost that aura of invincibility that he had in his prime WW days it will obviously enhance floyds legacy less, still a great win right now

It's def a good win but it's still a win that probably 90% of the boxing world is expecting floyd to win.

I think if floyd wins.... the "pac-ride" is over and he finally will have hit the wall that people were expecting him to hit when he fought ODLH.

If pac wins that will amplify his resume for sure.

Too late to worry about Floyd's legacy Thas shot to heck. He will always be remembered as the coward that ducked his legitimate opponents

To answer the OPs question, yes. One fighter that's not on his resume does not destroy everything else he's accomplished. Not fighting Pacquiao does not render his entire resume to irrelevant, it just doesn't enhance it as much as it could've.

If Floyd were to fight Pacquiao and beat him in a non-questionable manner, it would be his best win period from a legacy standpoint even now plus at least he could say he eventually fought Pacquiao like everyone wanted(only about four or five years late). So yes, it would improve his resume a decent bit.

To fight a "Rod Salka" is too far. Just because it isn't Pacquiao doesn't mean it's a bum. He always fights top contenders. For example, if he rematches Cotto; it sucks but just because it isn't Pacquiao doesn't mean it's suddenly a cherry pick and bad fight. Still a good fight, just not THE fight we all want.

WTF are you talking about?

Pacquiao will always be linked with Floyd, even if they don't fight.

A victory over Pacquiao would certainly boost his legacy, and to think otherwise is astounding. On the flipside, Floyd not fighting Pacquiao will undoubtedly do harm to his legacy, too.

how will it do harm to his legacy?

Will they not let floyd into the hall of fame if he doesn't fight pacquiao? Top 50 lists are imaginary the hof doesn't make one. All the HOF does is let people in or deny people and floyd has been in the HOF for a few years already.

So you're of the opinion that Floyd not fighting Pac WON'T harm his legacy?
