Bradley mos def the top dawg with Manny gone..U cant argue it for anyone else really..He beating top guys and Im sure he wouldnt mind a fight with Alexander or Khan... I believe Bradley beats em both
He may have not the inner toughness to go that hard a pace but he would have 50 percent chances to outbox Maidana. Congrats for the boldness, Amir.
Junior Witter, Kendall Holt, Nate Campbell and Lamont Peterson are Bradley's last four opponents. All of which are better than anyone Khan has fought. Anyone who would put that record up against Khan's and say Khan is the man is an idiot. I don't even think Khan would run that table undefeated. People are talking like he's the man at 140, and he still hasn't faced anyone that would prove he can get past the likes of a Breidis Prescott. He needs to face someone that's not 167 years old and throws punches and not pillows before we start acting like he's anywhere near Bradley's level.
I agree that Bradley is the man at 140 based on resume but it is not Khan who most people are saying should be the top man. Its Alexander. I think most people rightfully place Khan as number 3 or 4 with Maidana.
You think Nate Campbell is better than Andreas Kotelnik at LW? You think Peterson is better than Malignaggi? I disagree vehemently. Anyhow, i think Khan has too much speed and technique for Maidana. The jab Khan showed last night would be too much for Maidana to handle, i think Khan would take him out late. Bradley is a very good fighter, but i think Khan is all wrong for him. Bradley has good skills, and great stamina, but is not a big puncher, and can be hit, the way i see it Khan would have the upper hand against him, perhaps winning a close decision. As for Alexander, i think Khan would be ko'd. I'm not basing that on Alexander's win over Urango, because we all know Khan is no Urango. But Devon has the one punch power and athleticism that could seriously trouble Khan. I'd go for a mid-late KO for Alexander.
Whilst Khan has not been in a back and forth war when he has been hurt he has shown the courage (or stupidity depending on how you want to look at it) to fire back. When hurt and floored against Presscott, Limmond and Gomez Khan threw punchers back instead of tying up or mentally wilting. I think after the Presscott KO and under Roach's tutorledge he will Tie opponents up or get on his bike if he is in trouble but i don't think he will quit or be discouraged if he is hurt in future. We all know the problems with Khan's physical toughness but from what i have seen of him when he is in trouble he does seem to have the right mental makeup for a fighter.
I don't think there's anything dazzling about Bradley's record tbh. None of the fighters mentioned in this thread stand out against the others so I think there's scope for some good, well matched fights at LWW.
Kotelnik might beat Campbell at this point, but there's not doubt Campbell would have been amuch more dangerous fight for Khan given his considerable power advantage over AK. And I definitely think Peterson is better than Paulie. I also think Khan would beat Maidana. Maidana would have the "puncher's chance" but people who know boxing know that "puncher's chance" is a euphemism for "needs to get lucky". Khan is a better boxer and much faster and that should be enough to carry him over Maidana. I don't think Khan can beat Bradley or Alexander, or a few other guys in the division that aren't even being mentioned, simply because of his fragile whiskers. Peterson being one of them. He's probably not as talented as Khan, but we already know lightly regarded lightweights have the power to annihilate him, so what would a real JW with decent skills and power do? To me Khan is a guy that has been moved along just perfectly to maximize his popularity, but his chin will betray him when he has no choice but to get in there with the A level guys.
I see Alexander as the main threat, followed some way down by Bradley. I'm surprised people think Maidana would give Khan trouble. I think he blows him away in spectacular fashion, and he should take Ortiz to a comfortable UD as well.
you know, there's a Roach interview where he says that Khan can fight Maidana after Malignaggi, and then have Bradley and Alexander fight each other and Khan will fight the winner after he beats Maidana. He says something like how Bradley vs Alexander could be on the same card as Khan vs Maidana :smoke
