Last night we may have seen ONE OF the biggest ripoff's in boxing history. In comes the highly regarded Juan Diaz..............and then we have the sacrificial lamb Paulie Malignaggi who has been lightly regarded ever since the boxing world realized he was a boxer and not a puncher or a brawler. Now let us reflect. It seems Floyd Mayweather Jr. fights a similar style and commands the position of p4p greatest fighter on the planet. As a fighter, it hurts me to see a decision like we saw tonight when clearly malignaggi's skills have improved from the sweat off his brow. This man gave Juan Diaz a boxing lesson and in fact called into play the politics of boxing BEFORE he entered the ring. He called "the cards stacked against him" then put on an excellent performance while beating a man he was supposed to lose to. This isn't the end of Paulie Malignaggi. This is the beginning. He surprised us all. NONE of us in the boxing world thought Paulie Malignaggi would last 12 rounds with Juan Diaz.........but he did. None of us thought he would put on a boxing clinic and beat Diaz, but he did. We all like to think boxing is a fair sport..........I think we're all starting to see it's not. This is why people are migrating to UFC and mixed martial arts. I've never been a Paulie Malignaggi fan and picked Diaz by murder. I'm very proud to say that now, I AM a Paulie Malignaggi fan with great hope that he doesn't fold. My hope is that he trains harder...........learns the slick skill even better and moves into a position where he cannot be denied...........kinda like Bernard Hopkins did. This kids skills have improved. Last night he looked slicker, faster, and more posied than I've ever seen him. He knew when to clinch.....stick and move. Clearly his speed far surpassed Diaz..........this cannot be denied. This kid is not a brawler........he's skilled in the art of boxing..............and he seems to be getting better. And hey what do you know..........he can even take a hell of a punch. Diaz could not have gotten him out of that fight last night with a sledge hammer.........he tried..........only to see his efforts fail. Malignaggi will never be the one punch knock out artist, but neither is Diaz, neither is Mayweather, neither was Morales, Neither is Marquez. The kid clearly demonstrated he knows how to box the point system and win. And that's exactly what he needs to focus on. As a fighter I can tell you...........never look for a knockout..........winning the fight is what counts. We haven't seen the last of this guy yet. And I hope, after this robbery last night...........that he rises and forces himself to become undeniable by whatever means it takes, including selling his first born to Satan if the need be.
I agree, i thought paulie boxed beautifully, its like if i had to watch a video on how to box not fight i would watch paulie against diaz
Mate i was with you. But change that first sentence if you want a reasonable debate on ur thread because it isnt the worst decision ever. Not even close, but yes it was a bad decision.
Certainly I can't give much attention to a dolt who doesn't know the difference between " your" and " you're" NOR the difference between " there has been much worse" As opposed to " there is been much worse" Get your ****ing ghetto mexican uneducated non boxing, Idiot ass off my screen and off my thread and learn proper English.
Great post FanManII. The only sad bit is that this wasn't the worst ripoff in boxing history- I wish it were. Love the other points, though.
First of all when I iced 11 cans of beers on Saturday night I can less give a **** about grammar ***git:yep. I am not a Mexican and what does that have to with anything you racist twat, and your out criticizing me when you can't even learn captalize the first letter of a country nit wit. What are you the ****ing grammer nazi:nut? And did I touch nerve:rofl, because your clueless ****. Calling it maybe the biggest robbery in the history boxing? WTF GTFO you ****ing clueless **** boxrec ***git, Holyfield vs Lewis, Casamoyer v Cruz among others trumps this.
During Diaz's entrance I think it was Kellerman who said that Diaz is at a "Arturo Gatti type of crossroads in his career". He had a good run, lost to some quality opposition and is now at the point where he redefines his career or gracefully bows out. Tonight was Malignaggi's night to not redefine his career but to show that he could still do what he is known for, boxing a tactically skillful fight.
I am ghetto Mexican what's your excuse :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl. This is only what the first two paragraphs and only the spelling mistakes.:yep:yep
Will you please spare me all the emoticons, ( do you know what that means?) and the senseless acronyms that suggest you're to ****ing lazy OR stupid to type the King's English, while you're sitting on your fat ass doing nothing physical except drinking like a glutton and ruining your body????????????? Stop editing the quotes fat boy. Since this turned into a spelling Bee, I've been a step ahead of you. See not only can I box, but I also type very fast..........not that anyone cares. I'm subject to error in this case..........not stupidity as in your case.
