**Regarding the Heavyweights: who is the man...regardless?**

Its really rather creative and funny, how you can come up with a short description of each of Wlad's destroyed opponents to discredit Wlad and to minimize the threat they brought to him. You even make a little line description for each one. LOL

I imagine if he beat Peter in a rematch, and then Chagaev, then you'd suddenly find a way to slam those guys, too.

Even I see a pattern, here, and I'm not that smart.

Fact is, Wlad has been tested, and has passed. And over his last several fights, he outshines his opponents (skilled boxers like Byrd, and monster punchers like Brewster, alike) so decisively that even though they are world class, they seem like C level fighters, when compared to him. I think that is a better description of what has happened, rather than the way you've been putting effort into belittling his last several opponents.

Wlad is not only the heavyweight, he's as dominant as anyone has been since the days of a 30 year old Lewis.

 

Wlad is the best, but not dominant. He has to beat some of those other titlists before being called that. If he beats Chagaev, and the winner of Maskaev or Peter, then he could be called truly dominant. Until then, hell no.

Wlad has shown inprovement but his chin has not been really tested since 05 when Peter floored him 3 times and had him hurt, I believe if he can beat Peter again I will give him the credit he deserves. The competition he has fought since Peter has been sub par at best, Bryd was well past his prime and his boxing has diminshed leaving him with no threat to Wlad. Brock has nothing great in his arsenal to beat Wlad, every talent of his is either average or little bit above average. Austin sucks and showed little heart in there fight, should of never been given the opertunity to fight Wlad in the first place. Brewster who I thought would give Wlad a challange didnt show up that night, anyone in the top 10 could of beat Brewster that night. Wlad needs to prove more to me and alot of other fight fans hes for real, his heart and chin question not his boxing ability.

 

What would it take for you to accept the man is fighting the best? Peter was an undefeated top 10 heavyweight and very highly regarded by many observers when Wlad beat him. Byrd was the IBF titlist and RING/general world #1-ranked heavyweight when Wlad beat him. Brock was an undefeated top 10 heavyweight and very well-regarded in some circles when Wlad beat him. Brewster wasn't on top at the time, but he was a former titlist and still generally top 15-ranked heavyweight, and the fight was a resounding answer to all the detractors who've been crying out for Wlad to avenge his losses. Only the Austin fight was kind of an easy-mark sort of match, and Wlad had to take that fight, because Austin was his mandatory and he would've been stripped of his belt if he hadn't. Wlad has fought far better opposition than any of the other titlists, been more active, and been more dominant. He's clearly the man of the division right now.

Peter has beaten exactly one top 20 opponent in his career, that being a disgustingly fat and deteriorated old middleweight in Toney, and most observers thought he lost the first fight. Other than that, he has about 17-18 wins against low-level and clubfighters, a few against top 30-ish guys like an old Jeremy Williams and Taurus Sykes, and a loss to Wlad. So no, Peter is not in line to somehow supercede Wlad as "the man" by picking up one win against the consensus worst of the four titlists.

That said, though, Peter would become the main threat to Wlad's place at the top of the current heavyweight pantheon with a win over Maskaev, and a rematch between the two would be interesting. And of course I'm all for unification(God, please let two titlists fight each other sometime within the next decade), so I would certainly support such a match.
