I'll have zero excuses if Mayweather loses. Further still, I will praise Pacquiao. Is Pacquiao taking steroids? I don't know and don't care to speculate unless evidence surfaces. Regardless, steroids aren't going to win this fight.

How significant would a win over Pacquiao be for Floyd's standing, in your eyes?

See Floyd's interview when he says he is in a no win situation. :rofl Mayweather knows his haters like a book.

pac destroyed a HUGE ww...please do not use the size excuse when floyd beats him...if and when floyd wins u can not say pac is STILL a better fighter....come on man...head to head for the best in the world....they both have moved up and they both have fought bigger guys....floyd would beat pac if they were both 130 as well

A victory for Mayweather is excellent and his best win. A victory for Pac is yet another *unbelievable* win, given that he will weigh 149 on fight night, while "money" will weigh a minimum of 155. Anybody who doesn't think that's important isn't able to reason much better than a ******.

this does not hold water, because they have common opponents that floyd beat before pac.

"Regardless who wins"? Sounds like you're preparing Pac for defeat.

You don't think Mayweather would be Pacquiao's best win? Come on now.

    Correct.

Pac is already a Top-20 ATG according to people such as Brian Kenny and Bert Sugar. This fight, against a naturally larger master boxer can only enhance that legacy but can do little to diminish it.

As others have said, the examples of Joppy-Duran or Hagler-Duran are instructive. Duran is more highly-ranked than either Hagler or Joppy, all-time, though he lost to both men. Such would be the case with Pacquiao even should he lose to Mayweather. That's a consequence of two things: 1) Mayweather is larger and the larger man should win, and 2) Pac has titles in 7 weight classes and Floyd does not (he has 5).

Floyd may be a bridge too far for Pac (I think he is), as Hagler was for Duran. But that will not affect the respective fighters' legacies as it did not for Hagler and Duran.

Floyd has said it himself -- this is a no-win fight for him. He's right. The upside here belongs to Pac to a much greater extent than it does for Floyd. But both men will be paid well so I'm sure they'll deal with what comes.

whoever wins should rank higher. they both have good resumes (pac's a bit better) but there's no arguing that pac isn't a natural welter now considering he just whupped a natural welter and one of the best in the world.

basically they're both in their prime, they're both at a weight they now feel comfortable at and fighter is given any substantial advantage so whoever wins should most definetly be ranked higher. Pac's resume is great but not great enough to surpass someone who whups him who's resume is only a notch or 2 weaker and now just as good or better considering he beat him....ya dig?

How on earth did you deduce that from my post? Mayweather would absolutely be pac's best win - it would be phenomenal

Rankings have different meanings for different people, we can each give our own rankings based upon our own values, and others will make there's based on other values. The OP gives an opinion (not really a testable hypothesis though) and others can agree or disagree with it, based upon the values that they hold highest, it's a subjective exercise in many respects, just something people may want to keep in mind when talking about this.
