My only response to all this is...If Cotto had beat Pac, would it have been because he is a better fighter? I'm a Cotto fan(not a Pac or PBF fan), but I can't say that.

I definetely agre with the topic poster. Although Pacquiao is great he is definetely not a welterweight or even close to it, just cause he kicked a top welterweights ass last fight just goes to show how great he is. And although mayweather bitches alot, he is kinda right when he says he has nothing to gain by beating pacquiao.

Beating pacquiao will definetely be a good win, but not as good a win as it should be for beating a man like manny because he is bigger, undefeated, etc.

If he loses however, he lost to a guy who used to fight at 108. At least thats what the critics will say.

And when Thomas Hearns KTFO'd an old ass, smaller Duran, it didnt make him automatic top 10 of all time. ATG ranking is based on achievments, not on head to head skills or else Roy Jones, Ricardo Lopez and prime Tyson would be much higher on the list. And IMO Pacquiao ranking will get even higher, win or lose just for fighting Mayweather. He has blown through 122, 126, 130, 135, 140, and 147 so far beating almost all top fighters. While mayweather has blown through similar divisions, he doesnt have names like barrera, morales, marquez, cotto on his resume.

And unfortunately, De La Hoya and Hatton count more for Pacquiao not because how he beat them(Im pretty sure if PBF went wild on hatton and loaded up on his strongest straight rights and hooks he could have blown his overrated ass away quickly too, he just doesnt fight that way), its because its"Wow pacquiao is so brave and courageous for taking on bigger men in DLH and Hatton" And for floyd its"hatton is smaller he should win, stop cherrypicking, and oscar is similar size, old, go fight a real welterweight."

If pac loses it will be looked at like the Maxim-Robinson fight. Just cause Maxim beat a blown up Robinson at Maxims best weight doesnt make him greater than him. If Robinson won the fight he would still be the greatest, but by even a bigger landslide, but since Maxim won, nice job on beating a dehydrated smaller man. You get +.0001 legacy points. Thats how I think it wll be looked at.

If Floyd had beat Pacquiao at a catchweight and in september, I would give him more credit than if he beats Pacquiao at 147 in March. It works both ways.

Also, if Pac had beat Floyd at 140 in Floyd's first fight out of retirement, I would give Pac alot less credit than beating Floyd at 147 after Floyd has had a tuneup against Marquez.

So really, it works both ways.

So by ur logic, in order for fights to be on "fair ground" we should just eliminate weight classes and make all fighter weigh in at exactly the same becasue otherwise its not fair.

They should call off the Williams/Martinez fight tonihgt becasue Martinez weighed in 2 pounds heavier and thats not fair. BS.

Thats why there are weight classes. Weight classes make sure evrything is fair.

Pac is choosing to fight in the WW divisions which means he could face opponents ranging between 141-147. If he doesnt like it, the leave the division. Otherwise no excuses.

Thing is, Cotto in the past has used his size over guys his own size, such as Jennings (LOL) and the same thing was said he would do against Pac. Floyd never uses his size, he uses good defense and counter-punching so size in this fight really makes no difference, yet if Floyd wins, it will be because of his size?

I'm just saying...size is really no difference in this fight.

Dumbass post. Pacquiao was bigger than DLH. DLH was bigger than Mayweather.

Pacquiao has added a lot of muscle to his frame just like Mayweather did and they are now both WW. I could see if Pacquiao was fighting WW's but was only weighing in the 130's, but he's a true WW.

Its sad how so many people are now tryna make excuses for the inevitable ass whooping coming to Pac, when for the longest they swore up and down that Pac would kill Mayweather.

If Pac wins, he'll be called a legend by me because I don't see him beating Floyd. If Floyd wins, it's just another tough opponent he's beaten, and he fights on.

  10. This is silly reasoning. If PAC loses he will be an inferior welterweight, and no excuses about that. But other questions regarding p4p etc remain another matter.

Although you claim Floyd doesn't use his strength agaist his opponents (I think he does, epecially in the clinch), his opponents definately like to use their strength against him. So even if you consider that the size difference won't be an advantage for Floyd, you have to consider that it'll be a pretty big disadvantage for Pac who won't be able to use his strength and punch resistance as effectively against a WW as he would against a JrWW.

  12. oh wow. a meaningless comment with a :deal smile attached. I never thought I'd see that from you.

Thats not my logic at all. What I'm saying is that if one guy is at his best as a JrWW and the other is at his best as a WW, then its only fair for them to fight at a weight somewhere in the middle where neither guy has an edge over the other.

I agree that if Pac wants to show he is the best WW in the world, he should fight WW's at 147. But if he is out to prove he is the best p4p fighter in the world, then he should fight his opponents at a fair middle ground where neither has the edge.

You picked PAc to beat Cotto regardless of the weight even though Cotto had to weigh in at 145. Then you say you would give Floyd props for beating Pac at a catch weight. Didn't you see how Cotto ran out of gas, and was hit with everything in the book, and had no energy to counter? If two pounds wasn't much, then why is Floyd shitted on for weighing in at 146 instead of 144, and why did Pac and his people ask for 145 to fight Cotto instead of 147?

  15. wow, I agree with Nallege. This is shocking.
