No way CST80. I believe Prograis can beat Haney. I might even pick him just for the upset factor. But to say Haney isn't evasive is nonsense. Haney's a great defensive fighter when he needs to be and he has trademarks of Floy Mayweather. I hope you're right though. The boxing Gods owe Haney a loss. One that actually gets given that is.
Haney gon be running for his life in this one. Prograis seems to have problems with cutting off the ring which will be to Haney's advantage but I still think that Prograis is gonna tear Haney's ass up.
I voted Prograis by stoppage. But, to be honest, in this case I am voting with my heart and not my head. Smart money would bet Haney by decision. Personally, I don't think Haney is that special. He has great hand speed but has not shown real power yet. He has also been wobbled so his chin is not Golovkin granite. I would love to see Prograis shut this loudmouth up but if you bet on this fight, which I won't because it is too uncertain, you should put your money on Haney by decision.
I'm placing the following bets: Prograis to win -- +275 Prograis KO -- +550 Haney is the far superior boxer, but he doesn't have much experience fighting punchers and that was at 135. At 140, he won't have the same edge in physical strength plus he'll be matched against a legit power puncher. It could be that Haney's big fight experience, jab and 4-inch reach advantage are sufficient to carry him through, but to me this is an even matchup.
For the sake of the division, I hope so because Prograis is the only one who might fight Subriel MatÃas. Haney has already expressed interest in going up to fight Keith Thurman at 147, so we know he wants none. However, I'm just straight-up convinced that the only way Haney loses this is if he does that thing where he convinces himself, "I have power! No really, I do, stop laughing everyone!" and actively engages in Prograis' range where he gets lit up. Otherwise, it's going to be a fight so boring we'll start having fond memories of Shakur/Santos.
I am hoping Regis sleeps this ass clown Haney but I worry that he is up there in age and we have seen how far he goes to make 140 at his age it could catch up to him. The Prograis of even just a couple years ago would knock Haney's ugly ass out but I can see Devin jabbing and grabbing his way to a decision. I am not counting Regis out though as Haney has a glass jaw and is used to bullying opponents half his size.
