Why do we even have "regular titles" All it means is your 1st in line to fight for a particular title next. It's been made a complete mockery by guys like Tank Davis, who runs around with the 1st in line status at LW for years and tries to pass it off for a world title to ignorant fans. End regular titles asap. The Irony is Floyd said there are too many titles and his main star is the prime recipient of "too many titles".
AFAIK the only organization that has this is the WBA and its purpose is to generate more sanctioning fees for them. Surprised the other organizations haven't created their own bridgerweight titles yet.
That the (Super) Champion is ducking you ie Sturm and GGG, Mayweather and Thurman That you're not popular / dont have 5 title defenses so the WBA doesnt want to make you the (Super) Champion ie Jorge Linares and Roger Gutierrez Your promoter has some kind of power and you want to hold a fake belt ie Erislandy Lara, David Morrell and Tank Davis
There was a "Negro african title belt" for god's sakes. I'd actually love that one, sounds so cool like being in an exclusive club.
The WBA kiddie belt holder is supposed to eventually get a mandatory shot at the Super champion. Sometimes the Super Champion chooses not to fight the kiddie belt champ and the kiddie belt champ gets elevated to Super. That's what happened with GGG and Strurm.
That the (Super) Champion is ducking you ie Trevor Bryan That you're not popular / dont have 5 title defenses so the WBA doesnt want to make you the (Super) Champion ie Alexander Povetkin Your promoter has some kind of power and you want to hold a fake belt ie Lennox Lewis
Klitschko was the (Super) champ when Povetkin got the regular and throughout his regular reign until they fought and lewis got the real WBA against Holyfield in the rematch, not the regular
It allows you to create little shadow divisions like Trevor Bryansville (now the Island of Misfit Heavyweights) or Tankweight where no one ever has to fight. This is an amazing innovation that may lead to world peace.
