Relation between young upcoming star/old over the hill greats

    As you all already know, there has always been a trend in boxing where young superstars emerge as they beat former kings of the division.

    Examples

    Pac/Floyd-DLH
    Marciano- Joe Louis
    Holmes- Muhammad Ali
    Mike Tyson- Holmes
    Calzaghe/Eubank
    Hatton/Tsuyu
    Canelo/Shane
    Morales/Zaragoza
    DLH/Chavez
    Guerrero/Casamayor

    But in some instances, the young and upcoming star fails to beat the old champion.

    One example I can think of (getting late)

    Lennox Lewis/Vitali Klitschko
    Pavlik/Hopkins
    Foreman/Ali

    Can you name any other instances (in both cats)

    I was considering pavlik, but he already had a world title, and was exposed as a hypejob and had smashed more bums than a prime elton john so i didn't include him
