He didn't have to do anything. If it affected him that much affected him to the point he was outclassed last night he shouldn't of took it. I'll ask again. How do you not know that the tactic wasn't to come in at 165
I don't think it was a tactic. I don't think Canelo has that much control over how much he re-hydrates to. The only tactic was to make the 152 lb weight so he didn't get robbed by TNT. in doing so, he weighed less, and wasn't 100%, so therefore he didn't re-hydrate as much as he did against Trout, and thus was a smaller fighter in the ring by 7 lbs.
No I'm not asking do you think. I'm asking have you heard from Canelo that he wanted to come in heavier?
I had it 115-113 for Mayweather btw. The first 6 rounds were close, many of the rounds could have went either way. Even if Mayweather would have won 120-108... the fight was still close. How??? Well, what if every round is close but the same guy wins all of these close rounds? You have a fight that is scored 120-108 but was still a close fight. I remember watching Holmes vs. Williams when I was a kid. I thought most of the rounds were close but I also thought Holmes won almost every round. I know some had it almost even. I agree it was a close fight but I gave Holmes most of these. close rounds
Canelo was able to land double jabs, hooks to the body and head, land good combos, make Mayweather miss, force Mayweather to the ropes and corners without Mayweather doing much in retaliation, apply effective aggression... he did well. He did get tired late in the fight... maybe he should move up to MW? Mayweather won, but it wasn't easy. Canelo will get better, Mayweather will not.
Floyd had the chance to fight Pac when it was meaningful. It is that missed opportunity that defines Floyd's career. Pacman was not a good match up for Floyd. Fast hands, southpaw, power. It was a clear duck, since it would have easily been the highest grossing fight, and all Mayweather seems to talk about is money. Too bad. He had his chance and I think he would have won, but he is gutless.
I would not be surprised that if Canelo goes on a torrid win streak and appears to improve, that they meet again. The draw was just phenomenal....and the $$$ over the top.
I don't even think Canelo want that kind of headache again. If Mayweather beats him as bad as he did the last time, Canelo may never recover mentally from it.
