That's a good point about Parker not getting a rematch. Povetkin is a senior citizen who is on his last legs and way more vulnerable and susceptible to losing with each passing day. He sparked Whyte out cold whereas Parker who is young and in his prime lost a controversial decision to him after being on the receiving end of dirty tactics all night. E-Hearn even said before the fight that he felt that Povetkin's punch resistance might have diminished because of his age and the AJ and Hunter fights.

Please, same with every other big promoter. They all do it.
Kelly Pavlik had a rematch clause with Martinez which he did not use. Then some time later he said he want´s a rematch and some morons gave Martinez **** for ducking.

It´s something he agreed to. And he earned his shot as much as he took it from Whyte. It wasn´t an official eliminator. Thus I am fine with the rematch clause.
Had this been an official eliminator, it would be shady as **** tho

Not sure if you missed it. The fight was for the Interim WBC Championship. All title fights have rematch clauses in them. Not Matchrooms fault.

blame WBC for making up titles as they go along

I find it odd that the guy who has had to wait over a 1000 days for his earned title shot is somehow at fault for “wasting” his chance, when it was the WBC who fed Ortiz two shots for nothing and Breazele.

    Take could take legal action.
And I doubt the WBC, if they gave Povetkin the mandatory status, would just let him have it while Whyte is taking legal action.

    I detest Matchroom, insidious snakes

I don't hate Aj, but it would be glorious to see him get flatlined by fury to see these boys cry again

Whyte would then leapfrog him in the rankings

    It's pathetic

Well its a private contract so its Povetkins own fault for signing it but I somehow dont think he'll mind at all. PPV headliner in lockdown, will have got a good payday and the chance for bigger ones at his age when he was looking a bit depeleted off late.

He now gets a bigger PPV, possibly with a crowd depending on when/where it is and more money against a guy he KOd inconscious. Theres of course a risk of losing but considering he could have been looking at fighting fringe contenders on the outside seen as though he didnt bring a huge amount to the table, Id say hes done pretty well for himself.

The world we live in, the draw will always get clause now because they bring the money. Its that simple.

Povetkin wont be arsed imo, in favt hes probably pretty happy with hows its worked out. Plus Fury and Joshua have contracts to fulfill and a unification would trump a mandatory anyway.

WBC have effectively said they wont call for the mandatory until 2022 now anyway so Povetkin would be sleeping till then at best so may as well have a big rematch.

They simply stop Povetkin from fighting by suing him. He could get out but it might take a couple of years but why would he want to, itll be the biggest payday he can get currently against a guy hes knocked clean out.

I agree with the why would he want to part as I mentioned. Easy money. But could they really stop him fighting outside of the BBBofC jurisdiction? If Russia sanctioned a fight I doubt Hearns contract would hold any water, I couldn't see the WBC caring one way or the other. Say he fights Ruiz to give the mexican a chance to be #1 contender, the WBC would surely love that?
