Things happen in boxing, injuries and head clashes resulting in cuts, if that's was put in as a reason for a rematch.. "if the fight is ended with an injury or cut then there is a rematch" then I'd be fine with it, it's understandable.

But in my opinion this shows just how much faith Hearn had in Whyte, maybe Whyte had in himself, Whyte was KTFO.

It wasn't controversial, it wasn't "lucky", it wasn't debatable, it was as clean as it gets, no need for a rematch in my opinion.

Povetkin should get a shot at the WBC title, wasn't that the selling point, wasn't that the Drama?

All that "Whyte has waited 1000 days and one slip up and it's gone"

Well apparently not, if Whyte slipped up he had a rematch clause, that's not the narrative that was spun to sell this DRAMATIC PPV FIGHT.

Povetkin signed contract with rematch clause what is the issue? Nobody forced him, he chose to

I most definitely am not a fan of rematch clauses, be that involving AJ, Wilder or Fury, you lose then you should have to fight others to earn the right to a rematch.

Likewise Whyte should have had his title challenge as number 1 contender after a full training camp.

Maybes but hes signed some sort of contract with Matchroom so that has to be taken into account as well. Again could get out, they always can but he doesnt have the time like say Mikey garcia had to fritter away when he did it for example.

Well he has a rematch clause

If Povetkin doesn't honour it, then shyte will likely be made mandatory again

But how can they dictate the rankings like that? It doesn't make sense to me. Could any promoter write up a contract that manipulates the rankings in the same fashion?

What a terrible set of mandatory challengers we have as it stands. 41 year shot Povetkin who was not that long ago KO'd by a belt holder, 39 year old Pulev who rejected his last mandatory shot claiming he wasn't ready and 36 year old never was Helenius. Usyk is the only mandatory challenger anyone would actually want to see in a title fight.
