What are some boxing rematches that you can think of that actually took place more than 5+ years after the previous fight?

First that comes to mind immediately is Roman Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Estrada, where the rematch was nearly 9 years after the first encounter. Surprised it took them this long to finally make a rematch, especially considering how great the first fight was and where they both would end up later on.

Walcott - Ray II happened like 10 years after their first fight.

did you watch the Estrada vs Gonzalez 2 fight? If so what did you think? Who do you fell won?

I thought it was a fun fight. Felt like Gonzalez edged it...at least he did on my card 115-113...but I feel like the judges got this as right as humanly possible. The scorecards indicate it was close/competitive with multiple rounds that could be scored for either guy. I would love to see them lace the gloves up a 3rd time.

I loved it, it's the best fight I've seen live. In fairness though, that's quite a small sample size. I had it a draw, but felt if someone should've gotten the nod, it should've been Estrada. Quite possibly the hardest fight I've ever scored, although, the booze may have been the issue.

I feel they are on par with one another. Not sure I can say one was better than the other though...perhaps I am slightly swayed by Inoue Donaire being a fight I really wanted to see happen.

I actually didn’t get to watch it until 2 days ago. I was on vacation to Costa Rica when that fight took place and I was surprised that Costa Rica didn’t have DAZN available.

Upon watch the rematch I had the fight scored a draw. I would have been satisfied with either fighters winning, but that 117-111 scorecard was just not good. It was a very fun, scintillating fight that was well worth waiting for. Both Chocolatito and Gallo were made for each other. I just wish they both fought each other earlier when they were both at the height of their peaks, and before Sor Rungvisai ruined Chocolatito.

Larry Holmes holds two wins against Mike Weaver - more than 21 years apart.

He also beat "Bonecrusher" Smith twice - almost 15 years apart.

    Leonard-Hearns
    Holmes-Weaver
    Jones-Hopkins

There are other situations where 2 guys had fights in a short period of time, then the 3rd match was many years later

    Leonard-Duran
    Nelson-Fenech
    Randall-Chavez
