@shadow111 tell us again how Canelo feinted Mayweather off his shorts and how Canelo landed a 12 punch combination on Floyd. I love that story.
Floyd drained Canelo's ass down into uselessness and sadly Canelo has been doing the same to other fighters.
On the flipside though, surely you would agree that Canelo was nowhere near as good when he fought Floyd then as he is now. The head movement, Floyd hit him flush with a lot of jabs. Today he's constantly slipping jabs, has a much stronger guard, is a much bigger puncher, etc. I agree that Floyd showed clear evidence of being well out of his prime when he fought Maidana. But that was a year later. Against Canelo, we did not see his legs looking like they were gone like they did when he fought Maidana. It seems pretty obvious to me that vs Canelo, Mayweather was much better than the lesser, faded version a year later who fought Maidana. Maidana was an easier opponent than Canelo was so Floyd didn't need to train as hard. He knew he could beat Maidana with his B game, vs Canelo he needed his A game.
I'm not I'm making that argument. Mayweather retained his speed pretty well as he moved up. But sure I think that's true that he was faster at the lower weight. Certainly in regard to foot speed, but hand speed didn't dissipate as much as he moved up.
cause he was more aggressive, ofc he will get hit more. If he really wanted too he could be just as defensive.
Round 10, it's there. Canelo taught Floyd how to fight off the ropes, then Floyd tried fighting on the ropes himself, and proceeded to get hit with the 12 punch combo. Canelo won the battle of the ropes = Fact.
Chico was drained and struggling very badly to make weight and they wanted the fight at 135 down the line, but Arum made the fight sooner. Chico hitting the canvas 5X and then later going on to weather hellacious bombs from Castillo until the 10th pretty lets you know how badly drained he was against Floyd. He was 168 when camp started and had to shed 10 pounds during fight week. Plus he had legal trouble. Clenelo win > Chico win
Chico fought at 130 years after his schooling by PBF. He even won a title there at 130 and defended it. I couldn't care less about jail time, it's an excuse. PBF was facing jail time going into the Cotto fight, did anyone give him an excuse then? No of course they didn't. PBF's performance against chico is light years > than his performance against Canelo. With that said Canelo was the better win, arguably the best of the last 10 years.
Imagine a boxer not trying hard Barely beat Canelo?, Floyd won wide end of story Some more gems from you tonight
