Yeah really,...I remember enjoying it for the shock value if anything. I admire how Thomas really seized the moment and pummelled Mugabi immediately after he turned his back. Might have been a good fight had it gone on normally.
That follow through on that punch was something though. Look at the effect it had on the opponent's foundation. To this day, I still can't get over the job Jacquot did on Curry. Really a shame seeing favorites losing like that---kind of like Arguello losing to "Pink Cat Walker". Round after round of a six shooter with no bullets. Almost rather see them stopped quick than getting outclassed like that.
I had actually never seen that fight before. A more extreme version of Sergio Martinez vs Miguel Cotto. Sometimes just reading the result on Boxrec doesn't tell the whole story.
D.Curry gave Rene Jacquot credit for defeating him at JrMW. Jacquot, who was a big underdog, said pre-fight that his main asset was his strength, which Curry concurred post fight. Curry said his legs went by the end of the 6th rd of the fight...and he really had nothing left after that point.
