It is funny though, because everyone on esb talks like they had Calzaghe in that fight.

Lacy's physique was second to none. Plus the fact that he is bald and black, many ESBrs got carried away.

I have always said long before the Lacy - Calzaghe fight that Lacy was nothing special. He was slow and not even a hard puncher. But his fans always tried to make a case for him as he was at that time still undefeated.

I said the same thing about Kessler here in ESB.

 

Needs a little dose of SNV to brighten it up. Care to oblige BroBox?

The only good thing I still enjoy is that years after Calzaghe retired, a broken shell of a fighter he beat is still considered high at world-level SMW even now. And a dirty fighter he decisively defeated gave the number 1 or 2 SMW his toughest fight in a harder fight than Calzaghe had with him. Also, if BHop wins, that would just mean LHW several years later is completely inferior to the LHW generation before it.

I wouldn't call that BHop "fight" an ass whooping by Joe.....I'd call it more ...Boring as ****...... and a fight in which both men should have lost and not been paid.

 

He was black. When he was destroyed, the losers said he was done like Popkins and Jones.

 

Its a real shame my ''Calzaghe will annihilate Lacy'' thread has gone...there were some classic quotes in their from american posters about how great lacy was and how i didnt have a clue!

 

That was a particularly hilarious case of pwnage on a grand scale. It should never be forgotten. The way that the misguided morons who were forecasting a ridiculously one sided beatdown of Calzaghe (like, most of the forum) just slunk off for a while then crept back like nothing had happened (declaring that Lacy was always a hypejob bum) was priceless.

 

I soaked up all the media and hype just like everybody else and couldnt wait for this fight, reminded me a bit of Lewis v Ruddock. But i actually started to feel sorry for Lacy as the fight got going. By about the 3rd round all he had left was the LEFT HOOK to save his night and that became very sparce too as the fight went on.

 

Seriously. I can't help but feel sorry for this guy. :-(
