Bantamweight tourney: Perez vs. Agbeko Darchinyan vs. Mares Juan Alberto Rosas vs. Christian Mijares (IBF Super flyweight) Montiel in a 10 round tune-up vs. Jovanny Soto Thoughts?
If Mijares could make super fly all this time why did he step up? atsch Bantam tourney's going to be awesome, both fights have the potential to be FOTY candidates. I think Mares can do it against Vic and can't see Agbeko avenging his loss to Perez. Mares-Perez II final I think. Montiel just needs to come through this without any cuts/injuries. Then we can look forward to the Donaire fight :happy
Yeah, some great fights on this weekend. Come on Montiel, get the business done and then its Donaire next.:bbb
Mares vs. Darchinyan is very intriguing. Abner has the skills and the composure to outbox and counter Vic like crazy and i think he will, but you just don't know which Vic is gonna turn up. He can bully and confuse some technically better opponents with his unorthodox, crab like style and strong mentality. But i think Mares is above that, he's very calm, has much better reslience and punch resistance then Mijares and won't fall for Vics antics. Sometimes i worry about Mares' eye though...he's lost a lot of important development time with that eye injury and i'm not sure how fully it's recovered.
The Montiel situation is ****ed up. He was defending his titles tomorrow, then the opponent changed and it became a non-title fight and now he's fighting tonight :huh
Yeah, he was due to fight Eduardo Garcia (who had just conquered Eduardo Garcia). Montiel can do anything he wants though.:bart
It's a terrific weekend even without 'King Khan' and the Liverpool bill. Really looking forward to the Bantam tourney. They all match up really well but I agree with Ish that it should be a Perez-Mares final. Yonnhy Perez will likely beat Agbeko pretty handily again but I think Darchinyan could stop Marez though. The Bantamweight division is stacked right now. It's a shame the lower weights don't get the coverage they sometimes deserve. Montiel should get through easily but Mijares-Rosas is a 50/50 fight. It'll be interesting to see how Fernando Montiel does because Donaire was superb last week. Not that anyone's interested but there's also the return of Jeff Lacy on a card in Florida and more of the World Series of Boxing (which is live on Premier Sports). Plus for anyone that's a fan of MMA as well, there's another UFC card this weekend but it's not much of a card on paper. Plenty to look forward to as a fight fan this weekend :good
It's a shame Tricky an his boys at premier sports can't get some coverage of these fights and show them during the week. If I'm honest I don't no too much about the little guys, was looking forward to seeing them in action tbh
What's the point? I'm sure most of us have our ways of acquiring the fights after so we don't need Premier to do that for us. I'm happy for them to save up and give us good fights when they are available Live.
