How does it disprove that? It happened, he didn't fight Alexander or Chaves :think

I'll say it again, you can't say you want Pacquiao, Mayweather, Thurman and Bradley and then fight Jo Jo Dan, Frankie Gavin and Kevin Bizier and expect boxing fans to have it without questioning you.

Nobody has given Brook any hammer for this Golovkin fight, most have been very complimentary and rightly so. It's a very brave move, just like Khans was against Canelo.

Actually not many had a huge problem with Vargas, it was better than Dan, Gavin and Bizier but it wasn't the big name Hearn has promised for over two years.

But Brook has got a huge name in a huge fight now, I'm happy for Brook, Hearn and all involved, it will be a big PPV fight here in the UK.

But you can't dismiss what went before because this fight has been made.

 

Kid had no choice. Don't act like he did this out of overwhelming choice. This was his only opportunity to make big money. He was getting no big opportunities at 147 so he thought what the heck, win or lose.

 

True but I think it dispels the myth that Brook was avoiding the top guys at 147lbs. You don't avoid those and then face the #1 MW in the world.

Brook was an avoided man at 147lbs.

When Hearn months ago said Brook wanted GGG did you believe him?

Don't for one minute try and claim you believed Brook would ever step up in weight to fight GGG.

Now it's happening the Brook haters want to try and claim his cashing out, how he didn't want to be exposed at 147 etc etc.

Do people honestly believe that Hearn hasn't tried to get Garcia, Bradley, Vargas, Cotto over here?

 

At least somebody hasn't forgotten about that.

It's so easy to throw out the names Dan, Gavin and Bizer to beat Brook down with. But put into a little context ... he was STABBED in the arm and leg... could quite easily have died. Dan and Bizier were MANDATORIES. Gavin he fought just two months after Dan, so clearly that wasn't his main objective. Just a convenient one to take against a fighter in the same stable, while he is making sure his horrendous leg injury has healed.

The year between Gavin and Bizier was disappointing sure. But does anyone seriously think he was making up the rib injury? Does anyone seriously think he didn't want to fight Rios or Chavez?

If there's one thing I would criticise Brook for it's his pandering over Amir Khan. It's been embarrassing how much he has called him out since becoming IBF champ. It may well have had a knock-on effect with some other fights being made, who knows.

 

And even then the likes of Garcia and Vargas wouldn't sign when offered huge money.

I think some people seem to think its just as easy as pie to make these fights. Garcia turns down a figure just offer him more. That's what people seem to think should happen ignoring that the fight is promoted to make money not lose it.

The reality is Brook is seen as a threat and other fighters don't want to take the risk in losing even if it means they will be well paid.

How can Vargas didn't put pen to paper as soon as the $2 mil offer got made amazes me. This guy wont get that fighting anyone else but still he wasn't so keen.

 

I remember when khan agreed to fight canelo people said why can't kell Brook do the same.

I remember arguing then that kell would fight canelo. He just doesn't get offered the big fights.

Kell will fight all the big names. He just doesn't get the opportunity.

They tried for Garcia, Bradley, Cotto and got rebuffed on all three.

Finally kell gets an offer of the big fight he deserves and doesn't think twice about it.

Really don't see how people can say kell has been avoiding anyone.

He was unlucky with injuries vs Alexander and Chavez. It happens in sport, he is an athlete.

As for Vargas, he will regret the day he got so greedy. He tried to low ball kell as he knew kell was chasing a big fight and nobody else at 147 would fight him.

Vargas thought that kell would take less money just to make the fight.

 

Hateful? I quite like Brook. I thought the Chaves fight was a good one to make and thought that was a good barometer of where he was at post injury.

Much like Andre Ward, I think he's very talented (not as talented but you know what I mean) and much like the Oakland man is wasting years of his career. It's frustrating more than anything.
