Rememeber when ITV showed delayed coverage of Hagler-Hearns and Hagler Mugabi?

Hagler-Leonard was live, I stayed up all night for that, as was Hearns-Roldan, Leonard-Lalonde, every Tyson title fight up until (scratches head) Douglas?

Saturday afternoon boxing. Rocky Lockeridge vs Barry Michael. Najib Daho's little run...if the fight ended early back then they would switch over to some recent big time American boxing. Used to get right buzzed by that.

Midweek sports special, sportsnight....

Good times.

Today we may be able to see anything but they were the golden times...

 

ITV had a deal with Riddick bowe, i rememebr seeing the Dokes, Ferguson and Holyfield II bouts.
They also showed most of Tysons fights, i distinctly remember the bonecrusher smith, Witherspoon, and carl the truth williams matches.

I remember the Mijares fight on channell 427, with mexican american commentary lol.

Nuts tv had classic Benn, Eubank, and Naz matches.

Roy jones vs prince "*@:~.... on Europsort lol. More recently i remember miranda on live there, fighting in europe.

Witter, Haye and Froch on grandstand.
Also late night bbc Herbie hide getting KO'd by some nigerian bum in the 1st or 2nd round,and Nigel Benn absolutely roasting him in the studio lol and Robin Reid beating the crap out of some fat B*st*rd on the same card, just before his fight against Sven Ottke.

 

Hoko v Villasana was on terrestrial I think. ITV?

 

Leonard-Hagler wasn't live IIRC. It was on ITV at 8pm the day after.

 

Steve Robinson vs Hoko, Mcmillan and Duke Mckenzie.

When NAz, Benn and Bruno would headline ITV's bills in the mid-90's.

Do u remember Lennox vs Lionel Butler on bbc2 lol and Bruno fighting somebody equally fat, or maybe fatter around the same time.

Also on BBC2, highlights/delayed converage of Gatti-Ward 3, Toney-Jirov, Hopkins vs Taylor I&II, Lucas vs Beyer.
Also Roy Jones vs Montel Griffin I, with a bitter hating ass Steve Collins saying Jones threw the sucer punch cos he knew he was gonna lose lol

And Roy jones vs Glen Johnson, with John RAwling saying the reason Jones was no longer as good was because he'd been caught taking steroids, and so now wasnt the same fighter since he was off them lol

I'm almost certain it was but I couldn't be 100% as it was while back. If it wasn't live I didn't know the result which could have clouded my memory into thinking I watched it live.

Spinks-Tyson was live....stayed up for that. 91 seconds.....

I'm a 100% mate. The fight was on a Monday and ITV showed it 8pm on the Tuesday.

 

Damn, I stand corrected then.

So basically, in todays world I would have known the result before seeing it...

Hearns-Andries.....that was live wasn't it? Happened on the same night as the Zeebrugge disaster?

Sportworld extra, on a Monday night ITV, late, used to show fights. I saw McGirt-Brown on that show, among others.

 

Yep, I remember watching Hearns-Andries live. That looked like it was going to be an early night as well!!

 

Remember Benn-Eubank 1 was a few days after my 7th birthday and my dad let me stay up waaaaay past my bedtime to watch the highlights on sportsnight...those were the days

 

yeah think it was live on the sunday night cos i wasn't allowed to watch it....had to beg the old man to let me watch the replay on the wednesday night after we got in late from a newcastle game

 

Tyson fights live from Vegas on ITV... or was it the Beeb.

Eubank or Benn fights at around ten O'clock.

Yeah that was an absolute belter. Setanta seemed to have a big fight on every other week. Those were glory days!
