Hopkins was the reigning MW champion and had not suffered a loss since 93 to Roy Jones Jr. He beat Trinidad something that Oscar could not do and he RECOGNIZED that ODLH was the star and bent to Oscars will to get the fight.

GGG should follow suit and come down for the man with the bigger fanbase. If he is worth is merit like his team and fans think he is he will win.:bbb

Plus how in the hell will he go down to 154 and fight Floyd and people think he would win, but think he would be weak against Cotto or Canelo?:huh

    Make up your minds people.

I doubt he would get the 10-15 million Hopkins got for fighting Oscar against Canelo or Cotto.

GGG will get more fighting the winner of Canelo/Cotto than what Hopkins got. He will get a lot more.

He will get more than he got for his last fight and a good looking check from the PPV revenue. HBO top brass will not take anymore losses for anybody else again. K2 knows the clock is ticking.

Oh and IMO Oscar beat Trinidad but lost because he ran for the last 4 rounds. He still should of won though.

One of the judges gave Oscar the 12th round.

Do you think so? Roc nation paid $55 million for Cotto according to online sources and will earn 15-17 million per fight. I doubt he will get more or even 1/2 as much(not that Cotto will fight him anyway). Can't see him getting more than $5 million fighting Canelo either.

He'll probably take it to be fair it's still not right though, no matter how many cases preceeded it.

Easy Mate. The winner of Canelo/Cotto will be a huge star. Even though GGG is still unknown in the US, I think he will make at least 10 mil.:hat

Pretty sure he will pimp himself out if that was the case, but no way there's going to be $10M for him now. Maybe when he's the undisputed champion like B-Hop was and Canelo wants his belts fighting at a lower weight.

Catchweight could have made sense if Canelo was smaller than GGG as it was in the case with Bhop and ODLH. Fact is that Canelo is a massive weight cutter and he will outweigh GGG even at 160. Dude is a whopping 168lbs 30 days into the fight. He fights at 155 to have a massive advantage over everyone he fights. He already has his own Hispanic judge who scores his fights ridiculously wide for him every time. There's no reason to give him any further advantages. He can vacate the belt and do whatever he likes if he doesn't intend to fight at 160.

The fight was actually at a catchweight of 157lbs but Hopkins came in lighter to prove a point that the weight was a non issue. Hopkins hydrated back up to 169lbs which is about the weight Golovkin hydrates back up to.

So while a catchweight was present in this fight it wasn't 155lbs as being requested of Golovkin. 2lbs may not seem a lot but it is when you are draining yourself.

I also doubt any proposed fight with Golovkin would draw 1 million buys, De La Hoya was a far bigger draw and so I doubt anyone is paying Golovkin $10 million like Hopkins was to come down in weight.
