Remember when people thought Bute could beat Ward?

Kessler was the man many considered to be calzaghe's successor

how can a man who hadn't fought the best contenders at SMW (never mind the champion) be considered the number 1 SMW ???

 

I always thought it was between Kessler and Bute who was the 2nd best SMW behind Calzaghe. I wanted Kessler to fight Bute and the winner to fight Calzaghe. I'm not an expert on the SMW division but before the tournament who had Kessler beat that was so much better than Bute's wins?

 

Kessler's opponents were all ranked opponents, I remember checking that when I was living in Denmark
had a good chat to him before the calzaghe fight too

(I cant reference that now because i'm travelling and on a mobile 'pay as you go' account....and I have very little money left on it)

 

If Bute beats Pascal, Andre Ward will have to "earn" the right to step in the ring with Bute.
I'm sure that will be a "duck" though.
