To me it seems it's going the opposite way. It's concentrating on the sports angle and trying to disassociate itself from the WWE type ****. You don't see freak show matchups on UFC cards, you see evenly-matched fights. Chael talks a LOT of ****, but he has the biggest mouth in the sport by FAR. He's in the minority. The highest-profile, most heavily promoted fighters, the crossover stars like GSP and Jon Jones dress up in good suits and appear on late-night chat shows talking about professionalism and respect. Great. Chael is one fighter. What do GSP, JDS and Jon Jones remind you of? And what exactly is the problem with that? By "All American wrestler type" you really mean "white boy." :-( And why would the "USA USA USA" chants not be coming out in SUPPORT of Cain? Isn't he an American first and foremost? :huh That last paragraph smacks of veiled racism. Why would your background be relevant? And why can you not have country vs country rivalries in MMA? What's the problem with that? :hat
If I was a die hard Silva fan who calls Sonnen's performance in their fight the product of cheating, claims that Anderson was not his usual self due to a rib injury, and confidently insists Silva would destroy Chael in a rematch then I would beg Dana White to make this fight happen ASAP. Since there is no chance of Silva losing, then won't it be an amazing experience to watch Anderson destroy Chael? Won't it be awesome to see Chael's mouth shut for good? And yet all over internet forums I see Silva fans insisting Sonnen shouldn't get a rematch because he is a cheat. Well, maybe so, but he's done his time and if he plays within the rules this time around then he can no longer be considered a cheat. He should get a second chance like many fighters before him. And I'll say it again, if it was Sonnen's cheating that gave him his victory against Anderson in their fight then Silva fans should take great pleasure watching a rematch where Chael plays by the rules. Cause he'll get his ass kicked, right? Hmmm, or will he? I personally believe Silva fans greatly fear a Sonnen rematch. I think there is a strong possibility it ends up looking a lot like the first fight, and maybe this time Chael pulls it off. But, if you think such a statement is crazy then push hard for this rematch and you can make guys like me eat crow when Sonnen is destroyed. But if your main objective is to think up reasons why they shouldn't fight again, I have to seriously question the confidence you have in Anderson winning, even if you keep repeating it over and over.
I was one of the few to pick Sonnen pre Silva. Many said it would be an easy ride but I see nothing easy about someone who is a relentless top level wrestler who will grind you out. Against Stann, his wrestling took a step up and his jits looked good too. If Sonnen gets his jits level up more than he gets even more dangerous. Sonnen vs Silva II looks like an incredible match up and Silva might just lose (but Silva loves it when the odds are against him)!
Who is this Sonnen guy? I recall a drug using, money laundering fraudster with a similar name :think Lynchburg
Yes thats him. He'll also take Anderson Silva down at will. Not anybodys fault though. Its just how it is.
:deal Roids will give you that unnatural strength and ability to train harder and longer :-( :verysad He should have a lifetime ban in my opinion... Lynchburg
Sonnen is a complete ****. I would not be sad to see him long term injured in his fights. Typical wrestler, wrestlers are typically ****s.
Possible he may have Silvas number. The most shocking thing about the first fight was how many times he clipped Anderson. It's as if Sonnen has worked out his timing or something.
If it happens a second time it would be quite scary. Silva has an undeniable ability to judge distance and timing. However Sonnen immediately went for it and found a home for his hands.
Obviously Silva is the better fighter but there is always a guy out there that is a nightmare for certain fighters. I'm pretty sure Sonnen wont get caught in a last minute sub again so it's up to Anderson to raise his game in order to beat Sonnen. I don't think Sonnen should be fighting after his positive test, especially not for the title so soon. But in terms of a test for Anderson at MW this is right up there. Very interesting fight.
Sonnen was able to put Silva down twice mostly because he doesn't fear him. This stems from the fact that he knows he can take him down at will. Look, anyone pretty much can take Silva down. The difference with Sonnen is he can actually manouver from the top.
