Vargas fight is his finest moment. The story with Chavez goes that back in 89 when DLH was 16 or 17 they had a sparring session in L.A. where DLH was put on his seat.
Oscar would have been 15-16 in 1989. That wouldn't be suprising considering that Oscar would have been a young teenager up against one of the greatest of all time in his prime.
Vargas was his best fight. I remember wondering if he'd get out of the early rounds, but he took every shot then landed that perfect left. Vargas was a dangerous dude that night also.
Wow... Almost brought a tear to my eye. I have been following his career since I was 15 years old. I'm 29 now.
Thanks for posting. What a great career he had, even in his losses he fought hard and had moments of greatness with the exception of this last fight.
