One 5 second gif in a 36 minute fight lol. I suppose you will defend the ward vs Kessler hug and headbutt fest too?
You need a huge size and height advantage to octopus somebody. Ward never octopuss'd Froch. You don't remember the fight.
You said he didn't trade with Froch. The gif clearly proves you wrong. And that gif represented the majority of the fight.
I have not watched that fight since for all the same reasons as you guys mention. The scorecords were a joke I agree, Ward just fought an anti-fight. Frustrating to watch but you have to hand it to Ward, boxing is about winning and if they fought that fight 10 times over I would be hard pressed to give Froch much chance of beating his tactics. Also agree with the other sentiments, I can't name a single Ward fight I would ever want to watch again, what he did to Kessler should have seen him disqualified, not to mention the numerous other opponents he butted, threw low blows and plain cheated to win. He was a very good boxer behind all that.. but thankfully he can now be consigned to the dustbin of history.
Does anyone remember what Froch said to his girlfriend at the end of the fight. "He was too slick babe".
Ward octopussed Kessler, kovalev and froch. Can you honestly say ward didn't octopus kessler? Someone tallied it up and there was over 100 clinches done by ward in that fight.
It wasn't dino. Il put up a gif of wlad planking povetkin with a right hand, doesnt mean the whole fight was wlad spanking him with straight rights
The 178lbs limit in the Olympics means that you are weighted every fight day. Then you walk around under 178lbs, there's no weight cut. In the pros, there are guys in the 160 division that are around 175 on fight night, so a olympic light-heavyweight(165-178) is not a massive SMW.
Ward was terrible for the sport and im glad he is done. He wasnt this slick elite fighter , but a smothering cheat who had the judges and refs in his pocket. Kovalev had him beat twice and was robbed twice.

You can't octopus somebody thats taller which is why Wlad was man-handled and stripped bare by Fury. The whole point of Wlads octapuss tactic was to prevent any exchange of combat on the inside , even his own. Thats not the way Ward fights. Ward presses up against guys with his arms tucked up so he can deliver chopping hooks to the body and head. His elbows are pressed to his side and his gloves is pressed to the side of his head as he maneuvers around on the inside looking for openings , sometimes holding and hitting at the same time sure , but at least its still working. .Working inside gives the opponent more opportunity to fight back. Its not octapussing in any shape or form. Froch got beaten up on the inside and if you go back and watch it you'll see that. Your guy Klinchko performed like an illegal bear boxer/ human squid in pretty much every fight , even against bums. The best guy he beat -Povetkin- was the worst octapuss display the sport ever witnessed and Vetkin was not as good as Froch and Ward did not have the huge size advantage Wlad had.. Ward produced a masterclass against Froch. Wlads win over Vetkin should have been waved off and ruled a NC after the only 4th round
All I can say is this.. I've never heard anybody say "I think he will be the next Andre Ward". If anybody said that to me I'd avoid watching that boxer, I'd make sure I took some sleeping pills so I wasn't tempted to tune in.
118-110; Ward respected him, probably too much, and it was still a schooling. Couldn't miss Froch with his lead.
When an American widely outpoints a fan favorite, this forums' reaction always: "He ran!" "He was fighting to not fight!" "Did I mention he ran a marathon!" "He wouldn't trade with him!" "He only threw girly slaps!" "He was anti-fighting!" "Actually it might have been two marathons he ran!" "There was one boxer and one coward in the ring tonight!" Keeeeeep it up, boys...
