Its funny I remember sports columnist accusing Pea of waiting too long to fight Chavez. Yes Chavez was a monster at SFW

Pea gave away the ODLH fight. He was clearly the better boxer in there but clowned around too much and landed very little. The judges just saw all the punches ODLH was throwing (albeit not landing) and a Whitaker that only occasionally engaged.

UHHH No. No way. Close but DLH's fight nonetheless. I can see how someone would score it for Whitaker, sure. But Robbery, no way. Watch the fight.

His fight against Ramirez was a robbery though.

DLH landed some great punishing punches. It's why Whitaker decided to clown rather than to fight. In a sense you can say he disrespected ODLH but gave ODLH's power much respect.

definitely whitaker's greatest victory, er uh, draw. i got love for the aztec warriors, but every dog has his days, even chavez. gotta give credit to the better fighter that night, and that time it was Sweet Pea. and no, he did not beat oscar. he did throw more, but landed less. even a draw might of been pushing it, but oscar clearly won, even though it was close and competitive. i think oscar learned how to run in that fight from sweet pea and might of used it on tito

It was definitely a bigger fight/event than the Taylor fight. Not in terms of the peak/best weight class factor...but you had the top 2 p4p fighters in a huge, huge fight. Way more casual fans knew about Whitaker-Chavez than Chavez-Taylor 1.

the fight was close but i had pea winning by 2 points.

and the official judges had the fight 116-110 for oscar :nut

matter fact, there was just as much controversey in the pea-hoya decision as this.

I can admit, that the judging was not really describing the fight. And I'm not going to say that there is No way the judges could have posssibly been bought off.

But no one needs a judge to score a fight, and I have it 7-5 for DLH. I can see 7-5 for whitaker, sure. It was close, I just saw DLH trying to fight more, landing the more telling shots.

This scoring in this fight was an absolute joke.

    I had it 9-3 Whitaker.

    :yep word!

thats how i remember seeing the fight for the 1st time live. i thought it was a wrap! even my family (oscar fans) were quiet & looking uneasy before they announced the scores.

but after watching & rescoring the fight afterwards and even to this day i got pea by 2 points.
