No monstrous victories have been won since this was echoed throughout the boxing world. Fury beat Wilder for a 3rd time. Wilder stopped Helenius. Joshua got beat by Usyk, but I'm told that losses don't count against the quality of a fighters resume. If the folks, and there were many, who constantly repeated this were right back then, they should still be right, right? Here are the top wins in order as I see them: Klitschko - 41 years old, no belts, two years of ring rust, final fight Povetkin - 39 years old Parker - has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt his ceiling is gate keeper Pulev - 40 years old and went on to lose to a 32-12 Chisora Ruiz Jr. - 282 lbs, went on to go life and death with Arreola Is this it? The best win on that list by some margin is a 41 year old with no belts who was out of the ring for two years. This is, by the way, ignoring the quit job against a late replacement 30-1 underdog, and ignoring the 2x domination by Usyk who had a tougher time with Chisora.
If you judge the best resume on how many times you beat Chisora and Wilder, it's no question AJ doesn't have the best resume in the division at all, I figure. He's no daisy. He's no daisy at all.
Look at any post about heavyweight resumes prior to Usyk-AJ 1. It was a majority of folks. No one is saying it currently, but what has changed? Plenty of folks think losses do not count against a resume.
Let's make a cumulative top 10 list of heavyweight wins and see what it looks like. So basically ranking each win by each active heavyweight in order until we have a top 10. Would help put wins into context.
Since those days Fury picked up the pace a bit and AJ lost to Usyk twice, meanwhile Ruiz, Whyte, Parker, and the other decent wins AJ had have accomplished very little. Basically the HWs got to fighting each other a little bit and the situation became clearer.
If Joshua could read, such truths would cut. Absolutely he was generally considered to have 'the best resume', and since Fury has only fought Wilder again and Chisora since, Joshua absolutely still should have the best resume. But his fans have jumped off the bandwagon a bit, sadly. Maybe some even worked out he ducked Fury and therefore probably ducked Wilder.
Joshua is passe. Fury and Usyk will fight over who is #1, Joyce is on the rise, and Wilder has edged his way back into the conversation with his victory over a Finish crash-test dummy. However, a lot of people who post on here are fickle, and a few just plain stupid, so if Joshua beats that Amero-bum, those who abandoned him will return, and he will be right back in the mix. I still like the guy, and hope he gets a resurrection. The division has passed him by a bit, but he is young compared to Usyk, Fury, Joyce and Wilder. If he wants it, he'll get a third title-run eventually, and then there will be no denying him a decent spot in history.
