..against Reynaldo Lopez. Lopez has never been stopped, but he's a career flyweight. Two of his losses come to Christian Mijares (last year) and Dimitri Kirilov (MD).

It's a stay busy fight, De Leon is making only like 1/5 of what he made for the Bautisita fight, he just wants to get some rounds in and then fight again in December, a true champion.

Yup. The Bautista fight was over a month ago, though it doesn't seem that long.

well thats good that hes fighting already. I think nowadays guys want to protect themselves as much as possible and not willing to risk tarnishing their records by fighting less.

even though he'd lose, a fight between ponce de leon and vasquez/marquez would be fun for as long as it last.

     De Leon demolishes Lopez!
In a non-title bout fought at the featherweight limit, WBO super bantamweight world champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (33-1, 30 KOs) scored a devastating fifth round knockout over Reynaldo Lopez (27-6-2, 19 KOs) on Friday night at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California. Ponce De Leon was returning just 48 days after defending his title against #1 rated Rey Bautista on August 11, but Lopez who was making his debut in the United States, was not expected to offer the champ too many problems. Lopez put up some resistance early on, however the champion's bludgeoning blows began to take their toll more and more. Finally a huge Ponce De Leon straight left Lopez laying on the canvas motionless and the bout was over. Time was 2:39. The card is the first in the new multi-fight deal between Golden Boy Promotions and the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. Promoter Oscar De La Hoya was in attendance.

2004 Olympian Eduardo Escobedo (20-2, 14 KOs) scored an explosive sixth round knockout over previously unbeaten Jose F. Mendoza (21-1-1, 17 KOs) to claim the NABO featherweight title. Escobedo ended a competitive fight with a clean right hand that dropped Mendoza on his back. He barely beat the count, bur referee Raul Caiz ruled he was too hurt to continue and the bout was halted at the :35 mark.
