Reminder: Shane is old as hell, his D is deteriorated, & he struggled against Mayorga

Remnder Floyd was in his prime defense couldnt have been better than it was and struggled against an old Oscar De La Hoya who lost twice to Mosley....

 

Could be a fluke. He probably didn't train that hard for Mayorga, since, Maryorga is known to be a slacker. Anyway, I still got Floyd by decision.

Shane never really had D. His offense was his defense.

 

Floyd didn't stuggle at all. He gave Oscar a boxing lesson. The scorecards just weren't that good, but Floyd clearly won that fight.

probably true. that's why i could not put to much faith in shane here. his last fight against margo still leaves some question marks for me. yes he is very impresssive but that margo that night was not focused and probably has his mind flying and saying to himself "**** i got caught" over and over again couple that with shane's 1.5 years of inactivity. we only have this coming fight to gauge what is left off with sugar shane.

if he pulled this one, this would be very big and i am routing for the old guy.

 

Don't write Mosley off, please.
He is still a top WW and a win for either guy is going to be exceptional.

 

Mayorga is a tricky opponent because he is so wild. I remember seeing a clip from a guy saying "the most dangerous opponent is a guy who doesn't know how to box, because you don't know what's coming" and whilst that may be hyperbole, there is a point to it and Mayorga proved that point by beating good boxers in his career, with such an unorthodox style.

However, if Mosley still had it, he would have beaten Mayorga easier than he did, no question. He struggled at times, but in recent fights, aside from the Margarito bout, Mosley has just looked bad.

The counter to that is "Margarito was a top welter, you can't just dismiss that win" and that's true to an extent, but you have to consider that Margarito was tailor made for Mosley and that's Margarito with the hand wraps, if he did cheat, never mind without them. On that night, there was something very strange about Margarito. Strange enough to cast a lot of doubts over Mosley's victory.

I just don't think Mosley has shown enough recently to convince me this fight will be close. I see it being a one-sided, dominant performance from Mayweather.

 

Shane Mosley is a 5 time champion and a future HOFer. He's rated no.3 on Ring Magazine's top 10 p4p list. He's the current WBA WW champion of the world, and is considered by many to be the top WW on the planet. After Mayweather's dominating win over Marquez, Mosley bumrushed Mayweather's interview and challenged Money May to a fight. Instead of accepting Mosley's challenge right away, Mayweather instead tried to pursue a fight with Pacquiao.

Many in the boxing community derided Mayweather for this. They said that he was a punk who picked on smaller guys and that he was afraid of Mosley. Legendary promoter Bob Arum even remarked that Mosley was the toughest fight out there for Floyd(even tougher than Pacquiao or Cotto). Talk of Mayweather being afraid and ducking Mosley, as well as talk of Mosley being the most likely guy out there to beat Mayweather continued up until the day Mayweather signed the contract to fight Mosley. The fight is now a mere two weeks away.

 

I think Mayweather, Pacquiao, Williams and Cotto beat him clearly at 147lbs. I think Berto and Clottey may also be too good for him.
