People need to stop comparing boxing to other sports. In other sports the matches made are completely dictated by some outside authority, they have zero choice unlike boxing. We have no idea what the participants of other sports would do if they had choice...it's a comparison of no substance.

Fair enough. You are right in that respect, we have no idea what athletes in other sports would do if they could pick and choose their opponents.

However, as people, we do know what is the right and just thing to do, so in those respects, certain boxers and promoters should stop bringing the sport of boxing into disrepute and stop trying to con the fans and to do the right thing and make fights that make sense.

Since boxing does not have a world wide governing body it is up to the participants in boxing to keep the sport fair (in that regards, boxing should be self governing) and it is up to us fans to be the moral conscience of the sport and call out any wrongful behaviour.

I'm not trying to be brash but, "voicing" your opinion doesn't matter. They know the business, they have plenty of historical data, and they are going this route because even after having weighing out the fact they will upset many hard core fans, that this is by far still the best business route to go, and business factors will always be the deciding factors for matches made.

The only thing you're really accomplishing by voicing your opinion is trolling because in the end hard core fans will watch Cotto Canelo (no matter at what cost it came, like bucking three G to fight Geale) because it's simply a great, great, fight by the most important factors, competition/history/story. What we view is the only real voice we have, and if you watch Cotto Canelo knowing what it took to get there then you're part of the "problem" and all the opinions you have voiced were simply meaningless trolling.

Oh, I am well aware that I am only voicing my opinion and ultimately it means nothing in the grand scheme of things. But, if we aren't going to fruitlessly air our opinions then what is the point in this or any other online forum?

You say I am trolling, but that was not my intention. I was just giving my opinion, an opinion that is shared by some others, however, that was not my reason for typing what I typed. I merely typed it for my own benefit, as pointless as that may be.

Right, I'm aware that you may not look at it or intend it to be that way but, pointless posting is essentially trolling. As for what we're doing here, I personally like talking/reading about upcoming matches and potential matches and how they may play out, that is what I thought would be happening when I first joined forums. Unfortunately, that seems to be about the last happening, people see forums more as place to vent, troll, complain etc. (whichever you believe you are doing) and I find myself more explaining why something is happening, defending something etc. When come across a fight I don't like you would never know because I simply ignore it, I might just say something like "I won't be watching this one"...then, I don't watch it, like I have for many of even Floyd and Pac fights.

His win over Martinez is better than GGGs best win and should he beat Geale he'd have a win over GGG's best win.
GGG though entertaining is a product of a sub par division. #1 fighters from sperate divisions meet all the time.

Canelo though a JMW has more credentials then GGG so he's a better opponent

The lack of a structured circuit that objectively matches fighters against one another on the merit of rank and availability is an indictment against the sport.

I'd prefer to see such a system rather than what we currently have which basically is a free for all.
